I used to work IT support for the NHS, back when that was a thing. Our "manager" was some clueless hoax who had read "Management for Dummies" and got her 13 year old nephew to show her basic Excel.... this show nailed exactly why so many government projects fail... It didn't matter what the problem was, she wanted it fixed "NOW!" and had no clue what the problem was or how to fix it. She just wanted a tick in her little spreadsheet. In the end we actually made dozens of tiny problems we could fix with a click so her reports looked good. She was still crap at her job, but she got promoted by another bean counter and one of us people who actually understood IT got to replace her. Then we could play Command and Conquer Red Alert at work, it was great....

Was this before or after a lack of windows patches left a bunch of NHS trusts vulnerable to wannacry? 😂 I was working for a remote radiology supplier at the time. I still remember wondering wtf was going on, logging into a bunch of different hospital servers and seeing the wannacry ransom message appearing on all of them. (Edit: I guess the c&c reference dates it sufficiently - wannacry was probs way after your time I suppose.)

@Strictly Pom I always come back to The IT Show. Love these three ... and yet, never quite relax into "hilarious". Roy's intense attraction to women, but with all his awkwardness and social fails. I love the ordered nature of Moss's brain - his commentary and quirks are often the laughs for me. Plus the awful-surreal nature of working for that company, just keeps me on edge.

I remember when this was being announced on channel 4 & i thought ah that looks like a good show to get into. I cant believe that was 2006. Its now 2023 & i watched the first episode yesterday (28th Jan) & couldn't stop. Its now 3 minutes to midnight 29th Jan & I'm on the final episode. Its been great. Just what i needed.

I agree, but this comedy is 'of it's time'. This is not the 2000's anymore. IT Teams do still exist...but are usually off-site or ran by large software and cooperate entities who specalise in this kind of thing.

The photos in the epilog were a good touch. But, of course, one has to wonder, if it was just the boys and their guests at the fair, who took all the pictures?

Paying for services that go unredemmed, is just a bad business practice. They're giving capitalism a bad name.
