Man we take a lot of players like millsap for granted. Hawks fan he I saw how the media overlooked individual performances of hawks players in the mid 2010s. This is understandable because we we known for team basketball (spurs east moniker) But millsap deserved more appreciation. I’m seeing it with Trae now too when few other point guards affect the game like he can even without consistent shooting numbers

In 2016 I was 14 and my mom bought me my first 2k, didn’t know anything about basketball or the game itself since I’m european, I started mycareer and got drafted by the Hawks, I remember I hated Millsap cause he never passed me the ball no matter how much I spammed the x button and always shot some cash middy whenever he got the chance (every possession). Miss those days and will miss the anchorman, truly the definition of underrated; hope he fans don’t forget him, I for sure never will.

Not just Paul Millsap, but also LaMarcus Aldridge deserves the same respect and appreciation as Paul is deserving of and getting here. It doesn't just seem like people ignore LaMarcus, but there's a weirdly growing group who just love hate on him and act like he was trash. It's weird.
@JammerAma9 күн бұрын
I will say this until the day I die. LaMarcus Aldridge is the most underrated power forward of all time. He gave my Blazers almost 10 straight years of consistent 20-10 games. The epitome of consistency. If he isn't top 10 in terms of the position he's definitely top 15. Best post fade away from any single player not named Dirk Nowitzky
@TheCriminalViolin8 күн бұрын
@@JammerAma I'm a Blazers fan too. LaMarsha carried us through all the years where Brandon and Greg were here since they were consistently out. Nicola also has to be commended for his contributions too, as he was a guy who if he had the confidence, he could have been top 3 all time in the league given he literally did everything to a ridiculously high degree. Scoring at all levels, playmaking, handling, rebounding, defending, the little things... he still has the most Boone & Crockett games in league history, if memory serves. When Wes got here, he helped a stupid amount too. But LaMarsha was the guy who led and carried us. Rudy can't be discounted either for his sixth man contributions. He also has always gone under the radar for how much he helped us win games. LaMarsha's idols who he modeled his game after was Dirk & Timmy, and he specifically worked to steal Dirk's fadeaway, and put a little of his own on it. That's why his and Dirk's post fades are compared so consistently. LaMarsha also added a three point shot, better rim dominance offensively, and vastly improved defense while with us too, to become a guy who could average 1.5-2bpg in his last two or three seasons. He didn't want to play Center, but he did anyway, which is why he focused in on developing better rebounding and rim protection skills. A lot of Blazers fans still insist he backstabbed the team and fans by saying he wanted to remain a Blazers for his whole career, and didn't want to leave, to leaving anyway, but he left because it was actually the team who went and backstabbed him. They promised him he was going to be the face of the franchise and the leader of the team, including offensively. Be given the keys to the franchise. Understandably, he was sick of playing second fiddle; robin to the team's batman. And he was fully justified in wanting that. Once it came time to do so, they instead handed the keys over immediately to Dame his rookie season. They became so enamored and focused on Dame, that LaMarcus had enough of the team's bullshit, and left. He of course also wanted to contend to win a Championship, and wanted to be closer to home so he could maximize the time he could spend with his family, thus, he chose to leave for San Antonio. It made perfect sense and was and is fully understandable and justified. I never felt bad or some kind of way about his decision to leave because of all that. I probably would have done the same. This team disrespected him all the time far too much. At some point, you gotta take control of your situation and move on. I really hope they'll retire his jersey some day here, and hope they can convince Brandon to do the same. The same day LaMarsha has his retired, so should Brandon. And BRoy at least should also get a statue outside the RG. It'd be really cool to see LaMarcus in his signature mid post fadeaway too, but not sure if him having one would make as much sense, though I wouldn't be against it at all.

I feel like due to the change the 2010’s (athletic wings/big guards taking importance over bigs, 3 point shooting taking precedence over post/mid-range game) a lot of very talented players who came into the league in the early/mid 2000’s were forgotten as the game passed them by.

It's insane you're trying to push that narrative lmaoo Paul Millsap had a solid career especially for someone who started playing basketball late. What you're suggesting is a completely dumb take Millsap was never in the conversation of best in the league he was a terrific third option but he wasn't carrying a team to success as a franchise piece. You can say Melo or Dwight but no one ever had Millsap in that type of category you're being ridiculous.

Holy shit the comments are so right. I thought u would’ve had a big following because this video is just that high quality. Keep up the good work this video was killer. If I had one thing to say in terms of constructive criticism, it would be make it more clear what your actual point is. I took from this that you’re saying we need to have more respect for these players instead of using them as examples of great players other, often greater, great players defeated. It took me a while to figure that out id just say make that central idea more clear. But dude if that’s the biggest criticism I can find in this video it must’ve been pretty darn good.

Also what about some of the young guys who had a year or two Kendrick Nunn was an underrated starting Pg on a finals team who average like 15 set some historic marks early on than got a knee injury after signing with the Lakers and has all but disappeared could do a video called something like "the biggest what if's that never were" idk

Great video for sure but what exactly is our definition of greatness here? Dude stayed fairly consistent as one of the better forwards in the league but don’t believe he was ever even the best at his position overall at any point in time. We had Timmy and KG during this era just to name 2 let alone the dirks and such of the world. Sound like Stephen A 🤣 He was absolutely underrated for sure but greatness? Sincerely don’t intend any disrespect by using these words so hope they land as intended but he was like the perfect role player that has the abilities of a star; but never strayed too far outside of his proverbial role to even prove how bright the star is to begin with. That’s something to admire for sure but don’t think greatness is the correct term. Regardless, keep up the great content bro!
@JaniHoopsАй бұрын
No disrespect taken and I appreciate you even taking the time to watch the video! I probably could have made it clearer in the video but I would say that when I may have conflated my problems with greatness with a problem withe the way we celebrate greatness. Meaning it feels like the celebration of legacy, achievement and overall appreciation of certain players is locked off for only the generational talents, the Tim Duncan’s, dirks, and kg’s of the world as you mentioned 😂 For me I’m trying to celebrate the legacies of the guys who may not have that superstar championship riddled resume, but they were still cultural staples in the basketball world for those who watched. Basically I want to celebrate the guys like Paul Millsap and Kemba, or whoever else, because in basketball debate in discourse as time passes, those are the guys who get overlooked and labeled as the “plumbers” of the world by younger generations or people eager to further the narrative of the greatness of another guy. TLDR: in 20 years, I don’t want my kid calling Paul Millsap a plumber to push a Wemby over LeBron agenda 😂 Once again thanks for the support and the comment 🙏🏿
@codythompson9035Ай бұрын
@ fair enough bro, sincerely appreciate you to even take the time to reply, let alone actually spend the time to form a valid response. While I agree with the sentiment of your response, I feel like we are using the term greatness as a synonym to something that doesn’t exactly resemble greatness. In my humble opinion I feel as though we can throw plenty of guys into this category like a Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf and plenty of others. Not even suggesting him and others wouldn’t fit, just feel like we could argue this sort of narrative to fit many. Someone truly great doesn’t require you to have to form a narrative to prove such greatness. Regardless I respect the hustle and have no qualms with having a simple difference of opinion. May not agree but feel it’s coming from some where that’s genuine which I can appreciate. I’ll stay around, be safe and keep being the genuine you regardless. Maybe you will change my mind some day!
