In 1945 my daddy took me to see Pinocchio as a very young boy. The part about the boys changing into donkeys really scared me and my daddy held me in his lap. This song had a powerful affect on me because I had heard it on the radio and in the movie. I was 7 years old when my daddy was killed in a coal mining accident 66 years ago. I was so devastated when my mother told me of his death, I couldn't stop crying. That's when I heard this song being played on our old stand-up radio we had and I ran outside to wish upon a star. You can figure out what I wished for, for my daddy to come back to me because I was his Pride and Joy and youngest boy. It broke my heart when I saw him in his casket but I still have the memory of seeing Pinocchio with him. That's why I have cried every single time I have ever heard this song in 66 years, just like I'm crying right now. I love and miss you still daddy.

That was Walt Disney, Could not agree more. His warm, folksy voice was perfect for Jiminy Cricket. He also had popularized "Singin' in the Rain" in the "Hollywood Revue" motion picture in 1929. Seems his later years were tough, and the Disney Corporation stepped in and paid for his funeral. Nice.

There's a tinge of wistful tragedy in his voice, he adds wonder and drama to all the right words. I think most other versions sing it very prettily and neatly, but he really acted it. It always sounds to me like it's sung from the voice of an old man, a dreamer who's lived an entire life and is tired and sad at this point. But he sings this every night as looks up to a star and keeps hoping. There's real pain as well and beauty in this version. To me, it cuts right to the core of what it's about. It's about having hope and holding onto it no matter where life takes you.

I remember snuggling with my PJs on, sitting on the living room carpet of my grandma's house, a few weeks before Christmas. They already had the tree up and twinkling. Disney came on the B&W tv. It was a Sunday night. I heard this song for the first time and couldn't believe a cricket could sing so beautifully. The song has never left. And with it, I've learned that crickets do sing beautifully. As do others who are full of hope and faith. This is a masterpiece that opened a very important door for me. How I wish it will for whoever reads this, too. Godspeed, brothers and sisters.

The world is that magical, it’s just a shame most don’t believe it anymore because science has brainwashed people into thinking it’s wrong to believe in something other than science. Knowing what chemicals trigger us to feel love doesn’t change how it feels, if anything it takes the magic out of it for a lot of people, because people no longer appreciate feeling it anymore. The world is a magical place, Walt Disney knew it too, “when your heart is in your dreams, no request is too extreame” that’s why we’ve lost sight of the magic, our hearts aren’t in it anymore, the magic didn’t go anywhere, we just stopped believing in it.

when I was younger I did a lab report about the history of Disney. It was the best report I have ever done because I got to work with my favorite topic! Knowing that Walt Disney started out as a cartoonist with a dream and became a man who’s art touched the lives of millions of people for generations and for generations to come is truly magical. Disney will always have a special place in my heart ❤️

Disney Corp. lost almost all of its mojo after Walt Disney died. Walt was such a unique visionary that it's next to impossible to truly replace him. Thankfully, the CEO of Pixar seems to have caught a goodly portion of that vision, and is helping the company to once again put out some great movies. I was horrified when Disney came so close several years ago to actually cutting ties with Pixar. Would have been the worst move by a movie company ever. But finally, in a stunning bit of serendipity, they... finally... not only renewed the relationship, but promoted him to CEO of Disney itself!

Hello everyone I am 20 years old and this song is a very special song. It is special to me because I have been through a lot in my life and am diagnosed with high functioning autism when I was younger and most recently ptsd. This song makes me calm and makes me feel better when I don’t feel well. I sang this song to my dying grandpa in the hospital and could not get through it all because I broke down crying along with my family in the room. I told my family not to give up hope especially with this song and my grandpa smiled at me. He got better after I sang this magical song to him and came home for some time. However he then went back to the hospital and passed away in January of this year. I cry still when I sing this song sometimes and I think about it. I was listening to this song when my mom came in my room and told me my grandpa died. Never ever give up hope and keep wishing on stars like I still do today it works.

Here in Sweden and the rest of the Nordic and Scandinavia, it is known not only as one of the anthems of Disney but also a Christmas song due to the fact that every Christmas Eve afternoon From All of Us to All of You is shown on TV ever since the 60's. It connects to Christmas partly due to The Star of Bethlehem as it guided The Wise Men/Kings to the stable where Jesus were born, making it the symbol of Christmas. It is so beautiful that I can't help to shed tears when I hear it and have to struggle to not to cry in public or at work.

Man….I just started crying listening to this song. Partly from nostalgia and how I heard this pretty much weekly watching Pinocchio all the time as a kid. But also just at how pure yet beautiful this song is. Even though it’s in a cartoon in what is considered to many to be a “kids movie” this song has such a beautiful message to anyone of any age. Having hope and faith in our dreams no matter how impossible or big they seem. This song really is a unique and remarkable song. I loved it as a child but I like it more now that I’m a teenager. It helps me put aside all of my worries and fears about growing up and becoming an adult. It helps me take a moment to just sit and be still. It gives me hope and faith that even if life is crazy and hard sometimes there is still always good in the world. It might be a little hard to find like a small star in the big sky but it is there shining brightly waiting for you to find it. This song really is such a comforting song. It gives you this feeling that everything is going to be alright. Even if the world around you is crazy and falling apart there is still good in the world however small it might be. “Like a boat out of the blue fate steps in and sees you through” Hope and faith may come out of nowhere but they are always there waiting on you to find them so that they can help you get through whatever hardship you have going on in your life. This song also just is so innocent and childlike. It brings out the child in anyone whether they are 4 or 80. It’s simple and magical as well as pure and beautiful.

I can't believe anyone would criticize this song. There are people who say this song promotes laziness or a lying belief that wishing alone will solve life problems. BALONEY! This is a ballad of hope for a better tomorrow and trying to see goodness and happiness even when you least suspect it! This song is as magical as it is charming and let any people who think otherwise carefully consider their motives before attacking this one little candle of light in an ever darkening world.

"Bella Notte", "When You Wish Upon A Star", "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah", "Once Upon A Dream", and so many others made me fall in love with The Magic Kingdom and Epcot Center. But I still made room in my heart for the classics that came before I was born and I think I can safely say, with pride, that I truly do admire Walt Disney's original legacy. May he rest in peace.
