Speaking about toys, the Billi Plush Toy I'd ordered from Makeship arrived today. We'd had placed her in one of the cat condo boxes of our larger cat tree, and when one of our black shorthair boys, Lucky, jumped up there and saw her, he went full poof. Not just the tail, but his body fur as well. This caught us off guard, as usually it's his brother Jinx who's the scaredy cat of the two. We assured him that Her Madjesty had only come to live with us in plushie form, and took her off the cat tree for now.

I think Billi is actually intimidated by Guppy. Guppy is all over her buttons, all over her toys, all over her food and she tries to protest because all the things that made her feel secure are no longer hers, no longer smell like her and have semi-aggressive cat all over it. She's hissing and all but it looks like Guppy is constantly challenging her. And when cat hierarchy is estabilished, the cat on the bottom wont even touch a thing until the other cat is finished.

OMG, I didn't see Guppy lurking in the corner until _just_ before she pounced! Rewinding, you can just barely see her ears peeking out in the background. Guppy is pretty cute, even if she is annoying Billi. 😀 I can't tell, but it really seems like at 00:03:50 that Billi is addressing _Guppy_ when she says "Zoom Zoom", whether to teach Guppy the name, or to complain to her. She looks right at Guppy when she pushes the button. Could it be that Billi wanted Mom to fix Zoom Zoom so Guppy would have something to keep her busy and out of Billi's hair? Like maybe "There, now you have Zoom Zoom, use it and leave the rest of my stuff alone," sort of vibe? I would be really curious to know what Billi's reaction was after Guppy accidentally hit not only two buttons, but hit two buttons and one of them was Billi's go-to "Mad" button! I know it was accidental, but if they're together long enough, I would truly not be surprised to see Guppy start trying the buttons. Bunni the dog's little brother Otter just picked up using the buttons from watching Bunni, so it wouldn't be the craziest thing. I'll be starting my own two on buttons when the next batch of the new kind comes out in June, and I am so excited. We've been working on using a simplified button language for months (one-way, obviously), and they're really responding to it. Tomorrow we start paw training! (Wish me luck, because 'me-too' little brother is gonna make it hard for more laid-back big brother, but we'll get there.)

For a bit there, zoom zoom didn't want to work, the stick kept getting stuck and making a weird sound, like someone was holding it back. I tried new batteries, etc, to no avail. Then, randomly, a few days later it was fine!

@@emeraldmaiden63 I know, right? Its like they have a sense of "If X then Y" like we do, but sometimes it just fails them, completely. For example, one of my cats knows how to open drawers with round handles. She just sat down one day, looked at the drawer, and cupped the handle with her paws and opened it. And yet, somehow, she still haven't been able to figure out why she can't lift a piece of carboard when she id standing on it. I honestly think that their little heads are wired for one kind of logic, but are completely unable to grasp even the basics of another.

I had a similar experience with my zoom zoom. First time using it and after a few minutes it started acting weird, making odd sounds, and twitching when it tried moving. I requested a replacement right away and the next day it seemed to be back to working fine... Idk, still getting it replaced.

@@The_Keeper when I was a kid, we had a kitty named Sylvester. My Dad was a dog guy and my mother didn't like animals. One day Silly pooped in mom's plant and he was banished to my and my sister's bedroom. Little son of a gun figured out how to turn the doorknob, pull the door inward and would hang out on the top of the stairs. If my sister (technically he was her cat) was late feeding him, he'd come down the stairs, go to where we kept his canned food, open that door, knock a can of food out of the cupboard and swat it all the way back to the bottom of the stairs.

3:20 you fixed it, but she's still mad; as soon as it works guppy shows up and billy is bullied out of her toy by guppy. 3:50 she pushes zoom zoom while staring at guppy. then she glances over at you. you say you think she'd share, but guppy is still playing with it; billi expects that going over to interact with guppy will result in conflict. she is unable to safely take agency to play with her own stuff. 4:10 "mad" feels too simple for the emotion she's probably feeling. I'd guess billi is feeling something like violated, threatened, anxious. 4:33 Oh man lol. then guppy pushes "mad, happy". Unclear if she has any idea what that means, or whether billi took anything out of it, but if I, with my human english understanding, was in billi's place, I'd feel mighty suspicious she may have... and i wonder if billi even realizes guppy might *not* understand as well as billi does.

This bit about her emotion would be a perfect way to expanding Billi's vocabulary on emotions. After losing a fight, she's likely feeling dimished or unsafe or anxious. Cat experts will probably know this best. If Billi looks afraid of Guppy, it's possible to teach her" fear". These emotions are going to happen regardless, when Guppy's around, so Kendra might as well help Billi express them. Besides that, I agree that poor Billi should be helped more a get safety again.

I haven't even finished the video yet, but when you first start Zoom Zoom and the string is caught, she just seems to be standing there looking at it like "Bless your heart Mom, that was a _good_ try" with a disgusted stance. Billi is the most expressive cat! And she does seem more interested in Zoom Zoom than usual, like she knows Guppy was the culprit and she needs to make it known that it's a tragedy. Poor Billi! I used electrical tape to keep the little doodad in place on my cat's meow toy. might work for you going forward. My 20 lb behemoth, EZ Cheez drags the entire thing around by either the little spinning bit or by the mat. Electrical tape holds up to his abuse.
