If you get married and the sexual craving disappears then the craving in first place was demonic. Because no matter how much sex you have within marriage satan gains nothing from it and may withdraw. Fasting is a great way to get rid of pride and lust. Fasting crucifies the flesh. I fasted (skipped just one meal) and my craving for desires of the flesh did not appear that day which led me to realise that those strong carnal desires may not be natural but could be a product of satanic forces

Spot on. I was married for 10 years. I’ve struggled with sexual temptation as long as I can remember. Literally. But like Mark said. Once you believe you can control yourself you will with Gods help. I get tempted like anyone else but I usually get through it extremely fast now. I sometimes go months without being tempted at all. And I live and work in a college town filled with younger and older women who dress…. differently than most places let’s just say. I won’t lie. I miss being married. And sex is a part of that. But for the most part if you learn to control yourself singleness can be a wonderful season.

This is so true! For those wondering how so? You can't just have sex with your spouse whenever you want, if it's true love, their consent, and ability will determine whether or not it's the right time. Times of exhaustion, sadness, menstrual bleeding, prayer, and fasting are a few examples of times when sex, even in marriage, is not appropriate. We all need the Holy Spirit, which bares the fruit of self-control, both in singleness and marriage.

Amen! I would also add that people may need to play around with how often they workout. I've heard a counselor say that some people get more urges if they workout. So, if you feel urges the day after, it might be good to set up your workout plan so you can do consecutive days without overworking a muscle group. That could look like an upper-lower or push-pull-legs plan. I can definitely say from my experience that staying consistent with it is key to keeping urges in check. So, yes! Funny how CMP’s (aka Clueless Married People), especially those who married young (ex. under the age of 40) seem to think that singles are single because we are not “prepared” or have not “taken action”. I’m far more prepared than most CMP’s I know, & have been taking action for decades. Part of the problem is that married people in the church don’t want to get involved in “messy’ or difficult topics with a demographic that they consider to be second class citizens. Most marrieds simply tell singles over & over again to “just wait” on God. I am not discounting waiting on God, but often times the people telling us that got married in their 20’s ...so they obviously didn’t take the advice that they are now offering. A married person telling a single that lives in a physical / biological body while here on Earth that sex is “no big deal” (...yes I’ve been told that!) is similar to a well fed person telling a starving person that food is “no big deal”. Sad fact is that older singles are really not wanted by the married people in the church.
@1970Mom2 жыл бұрын
You can't equate food to sex. A person will not die from not having sex. All this preoccupation with sex is strictly that of an overactive mind.

Definitely feel that "second class" Christian status especially now, no longer being a "young" man at 34. A "little while" is a cosmic joke as someone who is still waiting for marriage.

Almost 34 and still waiting for marriage. My 20s were easier as my 30s approached hormones got worse….It would have been helpful to have someone who waited for marriage as well to give advice. Getting my mind off masturbation is a challenge, but it has been 2 months……Everyone I know had sex before marriage. It really messes with your mind, but the urges slowed down, I try to distract myself with other things….. and basically looking forward to my wedding night.

I was glad to find and watch this video because it has given me crucial insights into how to resist sexual temptations I am currently undergoing. I have been through a breakup almost a year ago, but the consequences are up to this point torturing me both with regards to mental and spiritual health. The relationship was sinful, but I did not recognise that at the time and therefore was not able to bring my girlfriend who was also born in a Christian family, and myself to repentance and believing in Jesus Christ. And because we both were immature, I guess she would have not agreed with my suggestion to become true believers, which would imply complete absence of intimacy before our marriage. The circumstances were highly inappropriate. Since I am trying to quit masturbation, it comes to a point where I am having sexual fantasies with her. Flashbacks, thoughts of her having sex with someone else burn me from the inside (thus comparing sexual cravings to burning fire is truly pertinent). And usually, these fantasies occupy my mind when I am weakened - in the morning and at night, when I am left alone with my thoughts and there is nothing else to focus on. Sometimes I do not succeed to resist and it brings significant damage to my relationship with God. 1) I acknowledge that she is a daughter of God and not a sexual object, and she is going to have a husband. 2) Furthermore, I am also going to have a wife, and I even tried to protect myself from future engagements in this activity by imagining that everything I am doing would be revealed to my bride. But, whatever imaginative technique I apply, it happens to be ineffective because I simply cannot control my body.

The problem with our western christian society is that it tries to uphold the customs of those who are NOT with God. Dating is an absurd idea. And of the world. Go ahead give me an example of dating in the bible. Ill wait. The correct thing has always been marriage from the beginning. But our society and world is so messed up that most people have a hard time just imagining how that would work. Does she even want to marry? Whats more important your relationship with her or school? Thats up to you guys. Just think about it. In the time that you wait to marry all your doing is waiting for situations that bring discord into the relationship to arise. And since your not married its easier to break it off...its your life. This is of course is hindsight from my experience, God bless you.

@stevefernando942 жыл бұрын
@theatomicskeleton2 жыл бұрын
@@stevefernando94 I do agree with you in regards to fasting and coming together in marriage. But if you crucify the flesh and are no longer bothered and stop the next day and so forth and remain in purity then it is not a demon but the sinful nature of the Old Adam. But if you are enslaved and compelled to sin after having crucified the flesh then you can best be assured that it is a demon and you cannot crucify a demon *you have to expel it.* Demons harass, torment, enslave and compel and when they enslave and compel the two become an addiction and then you become lost in sin and feel powerless. Christians cannot be possessed but they can be "demonized" (Tormented). We have to realize that *we are dealing with a person* not in the human sense but in the spiritual. And these "people" (demons) affect your attitude, thinking and emotions.

I’m 46 years old and my wife divorced me over three years ago. I made the terrible mistake of getting married as an unbeliever to another lost unbeliever. Then she divorced me and left me after we had moved across the country to be close to her family and now I have no friends or family except my two young kids I get to see sometimes. Glory to God I was saved a year after the divorce. The Bible forbids me from getting married again because it would be considered adultery. So I have no real hope in ever being with anyone again for the rest of my life unless my ex-wife is saved and we can somehow reconcile even though she is seeing a new man now and going on trips with him and all sorts of things. Or if she were to die God forbid - then I could get remarried. I hate being alone and this loneliness and depression are destroying me.
