When you are washing dogs and cats you should always wet them first with gently warm water. You should prepare the soap/ shampoo ahead by mixing in a full pitcher of warm water. This way you don't have to spend time spreading the soap throughout their coat, and the soap is not concentrated on their skin. Pour the soap solution over all parts of the animal and then massage all over gently. Don't forget to clean the ears separately with cotton balls.

There is no need for cats to undergo a bath. They have the right amount of good bacteria and enzymes to keep themselves clean. I think the only exception would be if they get dirty re poo, or filth.

I always say: Please, don't wash your cats! If they are young/healthy they can lick themselves. They have a special saliva that is antibacterial and hides their scent so that prey can not smell them so good. If they are old, don't produce enough saliva, or fall in petrol (better they don't lick it), then ok, then you can help them to keep themselves clean.

Once again, let me set the record straight: IF they have a skin condition or the vet mandates it, by all means, give them a bath. Mine has flea allergies and while he's treated for fleas, he still gets very dry, flaky skin once in awhile. Bathing him is helpful so that he doesn't ingest all the skin...He isn't bathed often, but when this flares up, he needs to be. Please, unless you're a vet, cat or dog advice isn't warranted. Animal care isn't one size fits all. Use your noodle.

I had a cat that absolutely adored water. When I filled the bath up for myself, he would jump in it and swim around. He would sit at the sink for an hour smacking any drips of water, and preferred to drink water that way. Not saying that all cats are like that. But have never put him in a bath and he has no smell at all. But I love this mums dedication to her cats it’s just lovely when so many are out there harmed and begging just to be cared for like this. Weve always bathed our cats occasionally. Even indoor cats can get dirty. Sometimes they may have health problems that prevent them from cleaning themselves well, or need medicated baths for skin issues, etc. Our kittens learned to enjoy baths and loved splashing water!

Thats true, I don't see any fleas or nasty substances like oil or paint on those cats so it's absolutely unnecessary and can even damage them!. Not only because it's stressful for most cats to be wet (it can get very cold for them) and dryed but the shampoo often irritates their skin which leads to itchiness. If you ACTUALLY need to bathe a cat due to toxic or nasty substances like oil or paint then buy special cat shampoo without perfume from the vet and not some random from the internet. What smells good for us (perfume) can be stressing for them, cats don't like to smell like anything else but THEM. It's natural, since it could tell potential prey or bigger predators where they are when they smell excessive like perfume. I only once bathed my kittens when they were really young and had poop on their leg and tail, they didn't enjoy it at all (it's natural). I only used warm water and rubbed them a bit with a towel afterwards. They don't need to be completely dry.

I only put them in a quick shower with pet safe shampoo about once every year. Maybe twice if they have been rolling about w other cats or smell particularly bad. Dont want to hurt their skin by bathing too often. Careful towel dry and then lock them in the bathroom on a comfy mat until they are dry to prevent them getting sick. The Dog is an inside all the time kind and gets a washing in the backyard maybe once every 3 months. Again very thoroughly rising out of the pet safe shampoo. Towel dry and then special blow dryer meant for dogs.😅😂
