Congratulations! What a great honor! I grew up around the Grand Hotel, but my family always said it was too expensive to dine there so we would go to the night market across the street. I can only imagine how proud you feel! You make beautiful things, thank you for sharing your journey with us!

Wow!! So cool that you grew up in that area! And the night market was probably even more amazing, especially as a kid. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experience! ✨🫶🏼

I've been following along on your KZbin channel for a few months now and I am so pleased you got this opportunity! It turned out so wonderfully. Your pieces have a simple but intentional elegance to them. As a fellow craftswoman who has long since considered documenting my process through film, I find your videos so inspiring! Maybe I will take the leap one day soon and document my making like you. So glad the algorithm put you on my feed!

Wow, so nice to meet you!! Thank you for your incredibly generous words. Take the leap! You'll learn new skills in filming, storytelling, editing, and more, and can always quit after a few months of trying if you don't enjoy the process. Please also share a link to your work! I'd love to see it!

Must have been a lot of pressure to finally work on the one thing you anticipated through your career. I love how they turned out, back in middle school i loved to use those types of glazes as well, the cracks and greenish tint been so lovely. Kinda sad i haven't been able to continue pursuing this craft as a hobby. And to see how the chef appreciates those plates must have been a dream come true. Dont get me wrong, but I am glad you ditched the first design, I think the flopped ones had a lot of character, but the intended look seemed off to me, in my opinon they would have looked interesting in a different setting but took too much away from the possible presentation of the food itself. As my passion in life is cooking myself, I plan to commission an artist for a custom small set of plates in the future too. Pottery is such an under appreciated craft IMO

Amazing!! It's great to see you still pursuing creative hobbies through cooking, if not through pottery. And very interesting, that you thought that the "egg bowls" would have stood out too much. I can't wait to see the work you commission and the food you prep in it!

@@janicerohrssen Since pursuing Academia in STEM, the time for creative hobbies unfortunately is rather small, although I was able to work on a four figure costume commission before, which definitely was a very fulfilling experience to hand out to the commissioner. I hope once I'm done with my degree, I'll be able to get back into creative work too! And regarding the "egg bowls" I think it just comes down to personal preference, like with art in general. Probably, some Chef would have definitely been able to use them in a way where I wouldn't feel like they stood out too much, it's just that I personally wouldn't know how, as it is hard to imagine what an artist might envision working with these. While the "egg bowls" seem like more "elegant" to me, in my opinion your final work has a more ...relaxed character in my eyes Curious with what you come up next in future videos!

Looks great, but what about functionality? Is this the bowl you will use with chopsticks? Because I don't see how you can use a fork and knife with this shape.

I'm very curious about your trimming tools, they look great. I suppose it's tungsten carbide?
@janicerohrssen

My two favorites are the Mudtools Do All (mudtools.com/products/do-all-trim-tool), and yes, Phil Bison's tungsten carbide. I was very lucky that the studio had one of them, as they're notoriously difficult to get. But it really is the best trimming tool I've ever used.
