To each, our own ... After many years of show-jumping, I came to realize that my horses didn't give a flip about the show, the crowd, or the noise. My horses only became tense because I became tense. After realizing this, I began practicing to lower my anxiety, starting in the practice ring, then maintaining my collection in the arena. It was a major find for me and a major relief for my horses. I believe it was an elderly German man who once said "we get too soon old, and too late schmart". At least for me, he was right.

I am so proud to be Australian. I've learnt so much from the groundwork to the riding with this video. Much thanks.

You gotta love an Ozzie. They don't pull any punches. As you can see by the screen, we're both shitting ourselves... That being said, I could watch this guy all day. This is actually perfect for my stud.

I've never tried to feel my horse's heart beats through my own body. I've been aware of tension that I try to fix but not the heart rate. This is really interesting stuff and is something I will try today. Thanks TRT Method.

Great video Tristan! You are definitely one of my favorite trainers online-Thank you for sharing your approach with us here on KZbin- watching videos like yours was what motivated me to return to riding after a long time away ( due to illness). I’m so happy to have my equine time again- and delighted to have access to such a great resource like your channel. Ps- I wonder if you know one of my other favorite horse trainers -also Australian - Warwick Schiller? I imagine you must, because you’re both so thoughtful and decent to your horses- which I really appreciate.

I appreciate the "tools" and information he has given me to bring about relaxation, in my horse, since my prayers to heaven haven't really helped in the past when we're up against the demon blowing plastic bags etc. They are easy methods to practice and bring quick results. What more can I ask for?

Tristan ,wish I knew all this years ago when I had my horse. But these days I train and trial dogs , so want to ask you, could this method be applied to dogs? How do I do your course to learn and then try and apply it to my dogs? Be interesting to see.

I like your work but why are you pulling your inner hand backwards instead sideways?

Oops. Thought Hylofit was the name of the horse! Didn't realise it was a machine to measure heart rate. Feel better about my sensitivity for not feeling the horse's heart through my own body.

Not a thing, he's chewing on the bit (desirable) and is relaxed in the jaw. If you are concerned about the foam, that is a part of chewing on the bit and is normal.
