I actually want to say, there were a few years in the early oughts where my parents number was one number off from a nearby battered wives shelter. So we would always get calls from guys trying to talk to the women they had abused. The quick 180 their attitude made when they realized we didn't give af was astounding.

People can end up in abusive relationships due to many things, being drawn to abuse from trauma etc. is not the same as being aroused by or consenting to it. Women (or men) in abusive relationships dont actually want to be abused, and blaming them for what someone does to them is awful. Consensual pain like bdsm is a totally separate thing, its all about consent and being abused is not consensual.
