What a strong, brave, beautiful woman! Empathize with your loss as i was widowed as a young woman and I still wish to this day I knew the skills back then. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I wish I could have you for my coach. Appreciate you blessing us all with this story.💚

What I take from this is that our words are more powerful than we think

I have been “slowed down” using “I” SO MANY TIMES ITS DEPRESSING!! THANK YOU LAURA for pointing out that is just “a chance to say anything that I damn well want.”!!

Raised their daughter alone for 20 years…OUCH. I’m not sure that’s worth going back to.

What should you say in place of the “I” statements?

In her book the empowered wife, she suggests making I would love statements and expressive pure desire like I would love a clean kitchen. I would love a trip to the dog park with you. Express that desire and put it out there and then release it. As the respect grows in a relationship, he’ll do everything he can to fill those desires and more. ❤
