I didn’t notice I was in a quick play lobby with Flats, KarQ, and Somnus until my friend said “Look who we’re playing against”. This was around the sombra rework and Flats kept trying to make my life miserable as I was trying to live my best LW life. I even got the elimination and my friend wanted me to BM, to which I said “So I can get tunneled and embarrassed for the whole internet to see?! No thank youuuuu”

From my experience most of the GM titles are most likely just GM in Support and are just trying to rank up their DPS or Tank role.

Doesn't matter unless you're a mercy 1 trick if 9/10 you're GM in support, your mechanical skill alone is easily going to put you above plat level at least but usually much higher

From my experience, half the time I see these titles, they are from ow1 (probably back is season 2 or something) when the game was different … and they’ve never made it back. OR they are old bought accounts where people think “if i can just play in a higher elo I’ll be good” …. Then you see their open profile GM2 in season 2, then diamond , then plat, then, gold … and they just stayed a steady gold for 4 seasons.

@@Jellysfrickingstuffnah, some you can legit tell they were carried up there. GM in support as mercy … all other roles floating around gold/silver. They found some dps that they pocketed to GM - I’ve seen it a few times.

Literally just got off of a game like this. It looked like a 4 stack of GMS were boosting a bronze guy. They had GM for the title and even one of the guys account said overall rank was GM1 but his tank was "bronze" on a 68 hour account no less. It's obvious they are buying accounts and smurfing. The main guy that was talking in chat and taunting us was Willclap.

One thing from experience is that gm titles are meaningless sometimes. Don’t be scared of them. A lot of them are probably boosted to gm or used certain super giga-busted heroes (like Mauga). Had a game with a season 8 gm tank who played Mauga and deranked to silver…

I’ve been getting tons of matches where the other team is like 12-15 ranks above my team and I lose 2-4% less than I would have if they were in my division. Not exactly a good compromise for a nearly unwinnable game

second comment but an actual tip. Low elo is toxic as hell. Turn off Team and Match chat so you wont be distracted by the negativity. Join voice and just report who's an ass. otherwise play the game and have fun and try to improve.

There was a brief moment back in the beginning of season 2 of OW2 when I was put in bronze for tank placements. The wildest shit ever was I went against a grand master challenger on widow. I friended them afterwards because I beat them and asked wtf they were doing down there. Ends up they were a mercy one trick of some kind. So their widow wasn't really an unfair matchup for the SR. My previous diamond rank tank experience was probably way way way more unfair.

It could be a thing of groups too. I'm plat/gold depending on role so 90% of my games are just normal, maybe some diamonds or masters mixed in. But when I queue with my gf (diamond/masters range), I get more masters, GMs, and people like OWGrandma, Flats, and Somnus in my lobbies

This reminds me of when I was playing Cosmic Crisis as Moira, I saw that our Soldier 76 was.. very confident in his movements. I was a little surprised as I am unranked (cus idc about comp) and so I was like "Hey, maybe they are just a good Silver player or something"... until I saw them get play of the game and their title was THE GRAND MASTER TITLE!! I'll be honest, a lot of the times being a low rank, I will swap to another hero just because I feel more comfortable, a lot of the times I will be playing Pharah into double hitscan simply because I know that even being countered like that I can still bring a lot more value than I would playing meta heroes.

15 wins and 2 losses 1 draw, 88% win rate in competitive this season. The rework is amazing, just make sure to save a cooldown to escape arpund the corner whenever you might get focused. Boost jets don't make sound while falling, so use that to your advantage to slide off the roof

I love seeing tracers. I'm in silver and I've been doing a little climbing but watching your spectate has been helping me so much and I've been doing a lot more aim training Pharah seems so dominant in lower ranked lobbies

Sometimes, the problem is also that the Pharah usually has a Mercy pocket who keeps her alive but the team expects whomever picked hitscan on the team to "just kill her" without supporting said hitscan player much or at all. I play support and dps and have been on both sides of this. Makes a huge difference if your team supports you a little taking down the Pharah-Mercy and doesn't just expect you to magically do it all on your own, then flames you if it doesn't work.

U just need to think of every GM-Master Role challenger in ur lower elo lobbies like that one gold bastion that was a masters support and u good. Sometimes the skill & gamesense will transfer between roles easily, for some people tho, it'll take quite a long while for them to adjust and get better at their weaker role. A lot of them need to put in a lot of work and hours into that role to get better, but by that point, they will no longer be in the lower elos.

I play in silver and faced a GM "title" player on I think it was tank. I legit cannot fathom how anyone could get GM on any role and be silver in any other role. I am sorry the game knowledge and sense gap is MASSIVE between silver and GM. I understand that even silver players have some basics down and even the "bad" players are decent now.... but come on .

Iv smashed gm title players on every role, iv also been smashed by gm players on every role and highest iv ever been is diamond im on console and my rank hasnt gotten better depite having better aim, positioning, ult usage, knowlage of different comps, having 10 people in the game while having higher ranks on the enemy team and lower ranks on your team, your rank means nothing unless you play with the same 4 people and only verse the ranks the same as you. This doesnt happens so your rank is equivilent to 1/10th of the value you get a game.

I wish more ppl understand/accept that sometimes it’s better to play your strongest hero despite the disadvantage. For example, my junkrat game is way better than everyone else I play. So to me, isn’t it better to play junkrat with a disadvantage vs swapping to a weaker hero of mine that theoretically should be stronger? Like my overall value is still higher with junkrat than being “forced” to swap to symettra or something. Am I crazy? Lol I suspect this guy was way more comfortable/strong with mei than tracer/pharah as well. Despite what the meta says
