I just wanted to comment here, how much this means to me. Opera is a very difficult thing to master, and it isn't very popular or mainstream, at least- not amongst the people of my generation. Seeing someone sing opera and being able to clearly recite even a handful of lyrics from songs I've listened to throughout my childhood brings tears to my eye. And I mean that honestly, I didn't know it could affect me so much but it has. I feel so grateful, grateful to have people like this in the world, grateful to see two things that have affected my life greatly in a beautiful union. He is a true soprano, you can tell from how much control he has over his voice. Beautiful.

This is so interesting how the art, the singers' manner was shaped by the necessity of those times without PA systems and microphones. The tone and the vibratto and the requirement to project the voice so far and so powerfully, just to be heard - the mic can't handle it xD. It's such a crystallized style of singing too. And the most interesting part is that we're also probably constrained just as much by our limitations, but it's sometimes hard to see what those limitations are.
