As of now, no breaker manufacturers have two pole dual function breakers available. A couple have two pole AFCI, and all of the major manufacturers have two pole GFCI. I can vision in the next code cycle or two, your smaller 15 and 20 amp, 240 volt circuits anyway, such as window AC, will require AFCI, or dual function for example a baseboard heater in a laundry room. It's only a matter of time before we see two pole dual function breakers on the market.

I'm guessing they aren't as concerned since there are typically only 2 connectiosn- one on both sides.

Do we need the GFCI or AFCI for the Refrigerator is 7ft away from the sink in the kitchen area?

If you have dual function AFCI/GFCI at the breaker, do you still need that at the outlet? What about nuisance tripping? I hear some electricians say don’t use AFCI/GFCI on fridge circuits?

When it says GFCI And AFCI protection required, as in both, for say the kitchen. But it’s for the dishwasher and garbage disposal, that means a dual function breaker- that does both gfci and afci? That can’t mean a afci breaker with a gfci receptacle? That wouldn’t make sense for those appliances?

On your own house, do them everywhere you can that does not cause grief

I'm sure that home insurance companies love this code. Electricians too. Both would love to see these must be installed in all homes, new or old.

It has gotten to the point that AFCI and GFCI are required almost everywhere. It would be simpler to just require it everywhere and it eventually will be. AFCI was designed to compensate for poor workmanship and the electricians that are against it are the very ones that brought it into existence. Just a thought from an old retired electrician.
