Everyone knows LMFAO was Redfoo and his uncle. What they don't know is Redfoo's dad was Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown Records haha. It's easier to figure out who's a plant than who isn't on the charts. People also don't understand what industry plant actually means, they are picturing an artist with good songs but no experience , who gets pushed to the front of the line and the algorithms. What we're really talking about is being the face for the song, not writing or singing or anything. Like the opposite of Gorillaz plus the songwriter is 8 dudes in nashville on a zoom call with kids running around in the back.

Basically, fallen off artists, producers or managers scout for "talent" and get them a come up since they still have connections in the industry and can provide recording studios, producers, etc. Then they basically just leech off the "talent" if they make it big. That's how they make easy money. So, if someone can't meet the bare minimum expectation, they get dropped/shelved.

Kid laroi clearly is not an industry plant, he was working hard and grinding music for years in australia, performing shows. Got a very lucky break and got recognition. How is this being an industry plant, thats WILD. He wasn't farmed up, he just was talented and got recognised for it.

90% of people are too afraid to chase their dreams. I'm not a fan of any of these artists but Laroi makes some good stuff. The Internet is a shitty place and loves to pile on and harass and ruin people. It's shitty that they are plants... But everyone would make the same decision. Imagine being broke, wanting to pursue music but don't think you'll make it. Imagine someone reaches out and tells you they'll make your dreams come true. Didn't Durk create King Von? Von never wanted to rap. Vince Staples didn't want to rap but someone got him into it.

FACT CHECKER: the kid laroi did not lie to or mislead marcus, his original rap mentor. Marcus was approached by laroi’s mother on instagram and offered a good wage to mentor laroi. they did indeed leave marcus in the dust and attempt to wipe him from the internet, however.
