There was a small plaque in Central Park that "details" the community of Seneca Village. In it, the plaque explains that the "blighted area" was a shanty town. Since discovering this to be a lie, the plaque was removed. Seneca Village was the first integrated community in New York in the 1900s, where former slaves, Italian and Irish immigrants coexisted. It was mowed down to make way for more of what is now Central Park.
