Hi @anishaanisha2249! You can watch my video on The most common 'ALLIED' Psychology Professions in the UK! (Guide for Psych Graduates) here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3OYq4iddpqMf5I. Hope this is useful!

This was a great video thank you for sharing! I would be interested in the video about allied psychology professions too - those seem to be much less spoken about online, but I assume they must be important to early career development? So would be great to hear more about them

Hi @louisel6205! Thanks for your comment! Feel free to watch the video on 'allied psych professions' :)! And yes, there are increasing numbers of roles considered 'allied psych roles' that are becoming more and more on demand!

Just a reminder the title "Psychologist" in the US requires the completion of a doctoral degree. The other professions you describe are not Psychologists. That said...very good info! 👍
@mypsychjourneyabroad6 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment Jim! In the UK it works the same way as well, professions like Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Counselling, Health Psychology, and some others, also require a doctorate of 3 years in order to use that title. Others that don't require a doctorate (like business psychology) do not use the title of 'Psychologists' to work in these areas, although they are still considered part of the core professions in psychology in the UK.

Lol with the big caveat that you’ll need a 2nd masters minimum for most of these 😅. Worth checking if a 2nd undergrad in Psych is a better approach financially for some!

I'm finishing my Masters of Social work in the United states this spring. In the US, someone who has an MSW can practice as a therapist. I am wanting to move to europe and I'm wondering if a a conversion masters makes sense for me. I want to get a doctorate level psychology degree but it's different in europe than it is in the US. Not sure where to go.
@mypsychjourneyabroad2 ай бұрын
Hi @jiblyjably! That's actually a great question! It will be different in each country inside Europe as well, but in particular in the UK, the first step would be to gain a BPS Graduate membership, that is, to apply for it with your non-UK qualifications, so they can assess them and see if it is considered 'equivalent' to having studied psychology (as an undergrad/or conversion) here. If it is not, then you would need to do a conversion masters with BPS accreditation (which takes 1 year full time/2 years part time).

Thank you so much for your video! Which courses should a graduate of psychology take in order to become a psychotherapist?
@mypsychjourneyabroad7 ай бұрын
Hi Theodora! You can read about how to become a Psychotherapist in the UK in the official website of gov.uk: nationalcareers.service.gov.uk/job-profiles/psychotherapist. Best of luck in this chosen career!

can you do dclin psy after msc health psychology (bps accreditted)
@mypsychjourneyabroad2 ай бұрын
Hi @AyeshaBukhari-mb9lo! Yes! If it is BPS accredited, then you are eligible to apply to the DClinPsy (once ready). In between, you would need minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a clinical or clinically relevant research capacity though. But finishing a masters in health psychology is definitely off to a promising start!
