This is way out of date. After the crash of 2008 a lot of people lost the money they had during the Celtic tiger years. Lots of us never had much money anyway.

@@fanfeck2844 we are a country. Of course we have banks. No. There was a big banking scandal in 2008 when all sorts of financial misdealings were found to be going on. The particular individuals were jailed and that bank was nationalised but the Gov't decided that we the taxpayer would shoulder the financial costs. Not a popular move and a lot of people lost a lot of money at the time. I was called for jury duty and they couldn't find anyone for the jury for the financiers because they were universally hated and no one had a neutral stance on the subject.
