I think your vlogs are some of the best content out there. So well-crafted (video, music, information.) And, you are such a likable couple. I don't know what you're planning next but I am looking forward to whatever you share. I will keep viewing because you always brighten my week.

I learned to sail on the SF Bay. It can be fierce wind with very strong currents and lots of traffic. There’s all kinds of microclimates. But it’s so much fun with lots of great places to dock and explore.

We were anchored between you and Scout a week ago in Calita Partita. To help sell your boat I would suggest you create a video showing the beauty of the Sea of Cortez. Hike up a few hills show the boat at anchor, do some footage of the boat from your dinghy. We all collect piles of stuff on the boat, to video a cabin move all the stuff aft for the video of forward part of the boat. Then move all the stuff forward to video aft. Make the boat look clean and ship shape. Get all the extra stuff off the deck before filming. Yes I know that is a lot of work, but you want to sell the boat, in real estate terms it is called staging. Shoot stills at the same time for your web site or a broker’s. I spent 35 years as a commercial photographer in the San Francisco Bay Area and been on my boat Voyager, a Catalina 470 here in Mexico for 8+ years. Good luck!

Yep, that’s why we call it the wind machine, because it spins up every day pretty much like clock work, and the central part of the bay is called “the slot” where it rips through the gate and all the way straight through to Berkeley.

What are you going to do after you sell the boat?

I used to live on the corner of Post and Leavenworth in San Fran...I paid $850.00 a month...Same apt. today $4200.00. What a difference 25 years makes...

As you discovered, everything about living in SF, both for locals and tourists is ridiculously expensive. One of the cheaper ways to explore that also let’s you see more of the city is to rent bicycles which you can also ride across the bridge to get back and forth between SF and Sausalito.

That was an average day in the SF bay but it blows 30 half of the time. In the 70s and early 80s the cable cars were 10 cents.

Hard to say what has motivated the listing for their vessel. Regardless it is their life and I wish them the best for whatever course they are plotting. Something to keep in mind, it is well known sailing from Mexico to BC is a difficult sail. The Pacific coast can be a particularly gnarly stretch of water. You can expect winds on the nose for almost the entire distance. And you will be fighting the California current for over half the trip. Not fun. It's not unusual for people to sail south and then sell their boat in Mexico and fly home. As I have heard to sail back it is easier to sail to Hawaii and then cross back to BC. Tiffany, Lyndon, Good luck!

How do you like your mast steps? Do you find they entangle your halyards? Are they noisy at anchor when the wind blows?
@noididnt79724 жыл бұрын
From Kimball Livingston's Sailing The Bay Copyright1981 A strong current and opposing winds make a classic rough water mix. The waves run more to the perpendicular, the troughs thin out , and the tops go slapping salt in the face. Going the weather is mainly a science of minimizing the jolts, and on a racing dingy the jolts come hard and fast. Only a war dance on the trapeze will keep two feet on the rail. As for the particulars.....it was a day in March. The prudent and the already broken made a sizable gathering on the beach to watch the fray. Most wore wet suits. All had an idea what the die hards on the course were dealing with : wind, minus gusts, at thirty knots, the tide ebbing at four knots, brown with long whitecaps. Seen from the rocks at the city-front break-water, the fleet seemed to stagger to windward, one stubbed toe at a time. To the crowd, it was clear who made a bad tack, they were swimming. In the background, bare as during the Gold Rush, rose the northern escarpment of an ocean pass. The miners of the 1840s - and the merchants who greeted them - called it the Golden Gate. The ebb rushed out, and the wind rushed in. I love San Franciso.

They're probably over boating - It happens. It seems like they've been low energy and not too into it lately. They're probably asking for patrons to help them get a house or apartment again. I don't blame them. I hope whatever their next journey is, that they'll be happy. They'll always have the memories of sailing together.

Hey all you negative people out there, have you ever considered that perhaps something serious could be going on that they do not wish to share with a bunch of whiny idiots who complain at the first sign that they are not getting something they want, namely an answer? Sure, you may be subscribers and maybe even patrons, but certain things may be hard and very personal to share, so why don't you all cool your jets and stop being so negative and just wait. Perhaps they are simply done, perhaps there is something more going on. Chill out.

America is expensive...... advice to Canadians coming down the coast. Do a straight shot down to Ensenada, Mexico. Its a 13 day trip and wonderful. And you arrive to warm weather and soft taco's.
@markleyg6 жыл бұрын
What silly advice. To miss the entire west coast of the U.S. and all the amazing places? Why go cruising if you don't want to see anything? And expensive compared to what? There are much more expensive places.
@beastlyendeavour91846 жыл бұрын

SF is the most expensive rip off city in OUR entire USA! SF is shorthand for Rip Off.
@flybird1416 жыл бұрын
I second that advise. I will never step foot in California (new Mexico) again. San Francisco is only second to New York for cost of living that's only one of the reasons people can't get out of that state fast enough! Head straight south to the real thing, Mexico is awesome!
@markleyg6 жыл бұрын

Sad. Love these two. I think they it in over their heads though. They didn’t sail to SF as much as they motored there. Always motoring. Look at the bay crossing in this episode - it really shook them up. My guess is they got the boat to Mexico somehow and they have had enough. Bad experience though the way they are leaving us. 10,000 subscribers are losing interest fast. Fool us once.....
@keithpalle23076 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure they lost alot of Patrions after the "bonus episode" fiasco. My guess it's a combination of not being very comfortable in less than ideal conditions and financial. Such a shame the way they are handling things they are/were one of my favorite channels. I think they could have done pretty well for themselves. Not everyone can be the next La Vagabond.
