Probably this video is pretty old now, but a couple of the sources are wrong - There's not a single "Pac-Man dying sound" sample in the game, Urien's theme uses a plain sine wave with manual LFO-like pitch bend events, the slight resemble is just coincidence - The "Siren" sound used in Hugo and Gill's theme is actually an Electric Guitar SFX, it can be found on very high quality (Compared to the one at Phoenix) on E-MU Classic Series Vol. 17 - Heavy Guitars (Even if that Sample CD is from 1995 and Phoenix came out in 1991, Classic Series are a compilation of E-MU's classic samples and patches from various of its libraries, so the sample itself could be way older and present in another E-MU module, like the various Proteus ie). - The CD scratch is a Hit from Zero-G Datafile Disc 1, there's a bunch of 3rd Strike content here, like the Pick Scrape, and samples that even Infinite used in his songs (Like a Drum Fill), i don't think somebody at Capcom actually took the time sampling actual songs for the OST, the most common answer is they used libraries like this one for all A little extra is, the main chug and power chords guitar is also inside Heavy Guitars! Good video regardless, i just wanted to point this out and not to be misconceptions ;)

I bet most of the samples came from a free audiolibrary, just like the "Let's Go" from Adam West. Most of these were used because it was easier as they were free from copyright and stuff.

@@mkl_1301 The "Let's go" from SA Ready SFX was found already, even if it was sampled from a Batman episode, the exact library they used for it was found too, It's Zero-G too iirc

The vinyl scratches(New Generation/Second Impact) are from the discontinued Dance expansion board from Roland (SR-JV80-06) due to copyright! In the Arcade Jazzy NYC also more noted in Ibuki's Loose in Twilight, part of the drum loop samples are from Ueberschall Drum'N'Bass Resonance (Akai) [Nowadays converted to Elastik Player using the library AntiGravity Maneuvers] Cheers

LOVE SAMPLES. great work putting this video together, I never realized how many of these songs had samples or how they'd often share them. it's like Hideki Okugawa really tried to come up with as many ways as possible to use them 3rd Strike and Hip-Hop were so formative to me when I was a teenager, and I still remember the whole "remix + original compositions" scene that sprung up on KZbin back in the day which was centered around SF3's music. so to see a video like this that's dedicated to the game's music brings me back. btw, Yuki Iwai also contributed to the OSTs of New Generation and 2nd Impact, although she didn't return for 3rd Strike. just wanted to bring that up in case!

Still one of my favorite Street Fighter games of all time. Street Fighter 6 following closely behind.

My vgm collection is massive, but 3rd Strike and Ridge Racer Type 4 remain two of my most played albums of all time. They're timeless. Truth is, I enjoy individual tracks in Alpha 2 and 3 more, but as a whole package, 3S definitely feels more aurally cohesive. EDIT: I'm a little confused over China Vox 99's sample of Nothing Serious. Is the main hook just a sped-up version of the sound effect you've cited? I have a mid-90's house album that I'm nearly positive uses that same sound.
