Was she in fact out there alone in the first place? I just watched a crime show where the mom and her boyfriend claimed that exact thing and it was a lie. They killed the little girl and dumpd her in a bayou where they found her.

News stories here say she walked inside to grab water, it's in a tight knit community where other kids were present, and Lina walked away from the playground in that moment. Not justifying her actions, but its a different culture in Afghanistan (they are refugees) than here in the US.

This is very tragic! Also a trigger for how different responses and approaches are between ethnics. Black, African, Native, shocked actually at the view/response. What 3 yr old is left alone at a park? Neglect, abuse charges against the parents? It was questioned at the time. Parents were new immigrants and (as other children were left, and it was fenced in) Mum assumed children were safe in America, because apparently in their neighbourhoods in Afghanistan the whole community watched each other's children and everyone/watchful neighbours are always outside. Mum ran to get food for the baby apparently. I'm sure both parents are paying in spades for making such a stupid mistake 🤷🏾‍♀️😐😢
