Funnily enough, one of the reason’s green is considered bad luck in theatre is because Moliere, a famous actor and playwright died after his performance of the Hypochondriac where he died in a coughing fit. It was rumoured he was wearing a green suit at the time. (Though it is also bad luck due to performing in outdoor theatre, you would blend in the background as dyes back then were made out of natural pigments.)

My mother also follows a superstion she says "Do not cut your nails at night". I think this superstion originated because in old days people didn't had nail cutter and they used to cut nails with something like sharp blade and at night when it was dark there might be a small chance of injuring themselves. That's my conclusion

Walking under a ladder is one that actually seems to have a bit of sense to it. You're far less likely to either bump the ladder or get something dropped on your head if you go around it.

Yeah its not really a superstition at all as the most common causes of death and injury on a construction site are falls from height and stuff being dropped from height. It basically like saying don't step out into traffic, most times you will be fine but it dosnt mean its a sensible thing to do.

It makes sense to avoid walking under a ladder. You could shake the ladder or even knock it over because there's not much room under them to walk and they're not that stable to begin with. When people are up on a ladder they are usually painting or using tools, or cleaning. Whatever they're using or removing could be dropped or fall on you, especially if you make the ladder wobble.

Tracy Paxton my dad's a retired bricklayer, I worked for him to pay my way through university. I once saw a bloke get a 1lb hammer dropped on his head from about 30ft up, the force of the blow destroyed his hardhat and left him concussed for a good 2 days ... Tbh he was lucky it was a glancing blow and he had a good quality dome on or he'd be dead!

Demetrica Pryor One day, you have your own life and live like a smarter person in life. I understand you have to believe it because of traditions but open your minds and think logically it will distinguish you between a briliant people and people who easily get fooled. Except if the 'superstition' were logic like the video already explained. I am Asian in South East Asia believe me there is more crazy supersticious in this region. And again if this is about tradition and family i respect it, you have a right to preserved some of supersticious tradition.

in Nepal we have this belief that , women should be kept out of kitchen during their menstruation cycle ... the original purpose was to give lady some rest at least once a month like for 4-5 days , cause she must have been exhausted of all household chores ... but people misused that and started treating women bad ... and treat them like untouchable ... and we have another , don't cut nails at evening ... which i believe was because of lack of lights in old times and knife or some sharp object they used to cut nail , which is no longer a issue . all (mostly ) these superstitions were created by someone with good intentions ... which might not be relevant now or even be blended and twisted for wrong desire .

Wow, I've often wondered where the first one came from, and your theory is pretty amazing!!It's true that most practices had started with a good purpose and intention but over time we've corrupted it. Particularly true for religions, nowadays people forget the whole point and simply concentrate on being ritualistic fanatics....

@@edith2821 "Born" an artist??? Dude no artist is born, artists are made. No baby can just pick up a brush and paint the Mona Lisa. My parents came from Hong Kong (and today now live in Alameda, CA along with my entire family), and in one particular building in the downtown, which is actually a restaurant along the entire height of the building, the numbers 4, 13, 14, 24 are completely removed from the building’s floor count, so the restaurant that me and my parents went to in the building when we were on our Hong Kong/Taipei trip was located on the 11th floor as said, but in reality, it is located on the 10th floor, because the 4th floor in the building had been omitted, and the same applies to the 13th, 14th, and 24th floors; also, the building has 29 floors, when in reality, it has just 25 floors. So that was something interesting I brought up. Sorry if it took me too long to post this comment.
