You have to look at the delivery business. When we look, what we see is that big delivery ( companies were you only need a driver license) businesses are already paying $35 to 40$h… Canada post is still at 30$h. Even if the postal workers get their 19% over 4 years, it’s not much, considering that at this pace the economy in 4 years, will possibly require you to make $45h to be ok, Canada post with 19% in 4 years will still be at 34, 35$h

I'd feel a lot better about using private courier companies if they weren't so keen on leaving my stuff on display for porch pirates. Never once had that problem with Canada Post.
@collinslindseyАй бұрын
Thanks for the kudos; as a letter carrier with Canada Post I try my best to hide parcels at the side of house/behind something, etc. so porch pirates won't see it. It takes more time but I'd like to think customers will appreciate the extra effort to prevent theft :)

We need to scale down Canada Post. Leave the parcels to private companies, and just do letter mail 2-3 times a week and keep post offices for rural and remote communities.

It's just CUPW is asking a very high increase. Why 24 percent? Are you telling me that if CP only gave 11.5 percent all CUPW workers will be homeless or broke? End this please. You deserve 24 percent maybe if CP is like a trillion dollar company.

To those speaking negatively about the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), consider their lasting impact on labor rights for all Canadians and maybe you are benefiting from it too. 1. Paid Maternity Leave: In 1981, CUPW’s efforts secured 17 weeks of paid maternity leave, now a fundamental workplace right across sectors. 2. Minimum Wage Advocacy: They supported initiatives to establish and increase minimum wages nationwide. 3. Job Security: CUPW protected workers’ roles during automation and technological changes. 4. Unsafe Work Protections: They strengthened the right to refuse unsafe conditions. 5. Public Service Advocacy: CUPW resisted privatization to preserve jobs and service accessibility. 6. Work-Life Balance: They set examples for reduced workweeks and fair conditions. These achievements show their dedication to fairness and equity for all workers.

If they can afford to strike this long thro the holidays, one thing is quite clear. These workers are already way overpaid, I hope they get wage cuts, claw backs, and job losses only in return for this domestic terrorism

Canada Post: Approximately 70% of current employees are at the maximum current salary range, making more than $30 per hour, plus overtime and cost-of-living allowance payments. Thats how they're able to afford to strike for so long. They weren't struggling to put food on the table, they were doing fine and got greedy
@thelegacy13Ай бұрын
"struggling to put food on the table" shouldn't be the bar for any job. Period. The fact that anyone should have to work 2 or 3 jobs to make ends meet while the CEO of Canada Post is not only making more money that the Prime Minister of Canada, but also collecting a 2nd huge paycheck from Purolator, is ludicrous. Canadians get turned against each other while the rich get richer.

100 percent. Striking is reserved for high skill workers who feel they aren’t getting the pay they deserve. But it’s just common sense low skilled workers with no education will make minimum wage as they are the bottom of the barrel. These CP workers are actually massively overpaid already.

Time to sell Canada Post's stake in Purolator & right size Canada Post for the new business losses. Everyone has forgotten & doesn't care about customers and the 185,000 passports being held and businesses being affected every day. BTW defined benefit pensions went away in the 80's. Overly entitled, they don't perform based on what they're already paid. With all that considered and their current pensions is insane. They are a federal essential service workforce. They should be obliged to move Canada's postal service regardless, they have plenty of incentives for present and future. The entitlement is insane when placing into perspective how 9 out of 10 Canadians aren't getting a wage increase/adjustment for inflation or the economic downturn. Legislation needs to be put into place where if anything, the unions will only be allowed to strike up to 15% employees at a time and only in rotation.
