Use to live around the way from the Sugar Mill. There's a decent pizza place across the street. (Jerry's)Crazy how I went from homeless in Waikiki, to living on the beach (in a house) watching Triple Crown All Day! (Lived right across from Pipeline for awhile 2) Then going to the bar at night (Breakers) and watching\and taking about surfing! Crazy times! Think it's getting close too making it back out there? And then just don't leave.....

Lived in Waialua in 86 ,87. Have fond memories of the mill. Had no idea of the secrets that this particular stretch of coast held. Thanks to coworkers and some eccentric residents this place opened my eyes to incredible experiences

I visited this area for the first time in February and got to chat with Eric! Super friendly and down to earth! Hopefully the area stays the same with all the amazing shapers!

Love this video! Stayed on NS to visit family and passed this sugar mill everyday. Never knew the history behind it, thank you for the video! Super bummed outside entity bought it instead of letting locals keep the space 😞

Hahaha.. Shane Dorian saying is this they place where JC is going to “chop me up” I thought exactly the same thing when I first went there also. Got to speak with JC one on one actually about Shane’s black & orange board for Jaws.. think it was a 9’6 x 17 x ?? with a beak nose. Was a fantastic day and hopefully they get to keep doing what these guys are doing.

Best board design ever, for me, was: 6'2" 2 1/4" rails--18" w, square tail-pulled in. And, I bet, a bigger version works better and, better. Transitions are, futuristic. Shaper=Michael Baron, for Byrne Surfboards. I was, sponsored by, Baron before- Stubbies AUS clothes.
