When I was in High school I started to fulfill my dream to fly full scale airplanes. In 1993 I learned to fly at Red Stewart Airfield in Waynesville, Ohio. I started in a J-3 Cub and finished up my rating in a Cessna 150. This video is a short video from Red Stewart Airfield. Learn to fly grassroots and enjoy the freedom of being a aviator. Thanks for watching

That is so cool! I was just out there this weekend and took a lesson with Tommy. He was actually polishing up that Pitts in the background when I met him. He gave me a lesson in a Champ and he's definitely an awesome instructor for sure thanks Tommy and Red Stewart field.

Great to see into your backstory Dewey. Oustanding to see your early student aircraft. Love those paint schemes on the late 60’s Cessnas! Enjoy savoring the B roll detail footage and the music you picked to accompany it! 👍🏻👏🏻🙂

Airplanes with patina I really like ! Dewey you have really interesting roots in aviation and this place is part of you even now, forget the posh flying schools go to a place like this for real tail dragger flying instruction, here they understand every part of the aircraft because they rebuild them and get down to the bare bones,it is little wonder you are a barnstormer with a start in aviation at a place like this, love the old Beech 18's littering the field they add real character, this is one timeless place that you can be so proud of,this is real grass roots aviation.

I haven't had a chance to get out there in a while; I knew they replaced the 85-hp engine on the Big Cub with a 65-hp. Was that broken valve from the 85?

I love this field. I flew in the J-3 a while back. Back seat flying a cub with an instructor upfront is extremely difficult compared to a C172. Still, it's great experience

Dewey thanks for another AWESOME video!! 🤙🏼😁🤙🏼 I cant wait to get my J-3 Cub done. I got all my tail feathers, lower door frame and left Aileron covered. I’ll be covering the wings hopefully within the next couple of weeks. 👍🏼😁👍🏼

Dewey Davenport - I’m shooting for next August 2019. It’s very time consuming when doing EVERYTHING all by my self. Lol. I’m gonna take a little cross country flight and fly up to your place one of these days in it. I installed a extra 8 gallon wing tank so I want have to stop so much. 😁😉👍🏼

Those rental prices! Are those the current prices at 1:38? Here in New Orleans: 172 - $149 to $169 (steam and glass), 152 - $110

Nett they are the cheapest around and they really teach you how to fly. When I was renting the J-3 it was $26.00 a hour.

How well did you do when you took your FAA instrument written test. I thought it was challenging. My CFI check Ride was a pain my DPE was difficult. Does your jet you fly have an engine sync button on the top panel?
