I'll miss you PoE stuff Colby, and it's sad to hear you couldn't make youtube your career. But I am interested in learning programming. I only touched the surface w/ critically thinking with computers and we just had to write a script to solve some weird problem. I failed that class, but I like gaming and I think programming would be a great skill. If you can do some beginner vids to showcase what programming is, how to do it, what jobs you can get with it and if it can be self taught (like your doing right now I assume), I'd love to watch them! Oh and in that logic class w/ computers we used chipmunk basic.... I only tried to do it a few times, but then again I was in college, never going and not giving it my all. I def would give it my all at this point in my life though.

Hi Colby! Im a fan of you since i saw you on twitch playing my favourite game (at that time) PoE. Followed your twitch, subbed to your youtube and watched everything you did. It was really great. It is kind of unnormal to me to make such drastic changes in live like selling the gaming gear and stuff like that. I would never be able to do it. I am interested in programming but im too lazy to learn it. Maybe with your help i can find some motivation to programm some small projects! Gonna stay subbed and i wish you the best of luck in your reallife in terms of jobs etc.

Hey man, i really respect you and your decision, it takes alot of effort to do something like that. I really enjoy programing aswell, but im lazy, took a year off university ( programing engeneering or smth of sort ) and java is really important. I only programed in VB and c,c++ and java till now and i really love it, the logic behind it is awesome , dont really like "web related languages" like html etc.. But i would love to know how to program in ruby, since i've made a couple of games in RPG Maker and it runs on Ruby. GReat stuff man, best of luck!

Good on you to try something completely new. I've be in application developer for a while so I can you the road is hard but won't be long. You'll get there soon. Some tips for your resume: Try to read and list in your resume SDLC Agile, Scrum as companies do find that stuff important. Some good read: The REST API Design Handbook - cheap and short but very handy to pull out during interviews if asked about APIs. I noticed you've put meteor.js so probably you might want to dive a bit further into node.js as well. Good Luck man!

Hope you the best of luck on your journey bro. I used to watch you for your video&streams of lol. Remember you making your shake on stream.. Idk why I remember that about you :/ amazing lol player. I'm actually wanting to get into html/ web designing. I have a business idea- which obviously checked for originality.. And don't want to bore you or anything but it's mainly based around web design and an app if the website takes off. Point is if you don't take risks in life like you did with quitting gaming on KZbin and taking a part time job to go around you studying then you never achieve anything you want to in life.

lol colby i was looking for muttrc configs and stumbled upon your channel. I'm roughly in the same boat and going through mhartl's rails tutorial and will check out the odin project. using the usual tools in the rails ecosystem, vim, tmux, yadda yadda. good for you for diving back into coding. what are your reasons for checking out meteor? I have my reasons just wondering your take on it
@colbycheeze8 жыл бұрын
+William Seipp With Meteor you can get an app up and running in VERY little time, and without understanding the massive amount of coding / build tools you need with other frameworks...so you can just focus on learning to code! I definitely say drop learning rails as it's on it's way out the door in today's Node ecosystem anyway. Go to FreeCodeCamp.com and do their learning and/or pick up some books on meteor. Just get good at all of that front end stuff because that's where a ton of demand for jobs are right now...(plus it's fun!)
@williamseipp96918 жыл бұрын
yeah meteor seems awesome in that way, definitely worth exploring. I definitely agree with the node > rails sentiment but I'm not ready to drop learning rails. I only want to dabble in rails enough to understand how to rapidly prototype an application, and how to apply that familiarity to other more modern frameworks. There's just too many reasons to NOT commit to learning a js framework its just not the right time yet. thanks for the advice!
@williamseipp96918 жыл бұрын
*edit* you know what, I'm ditching rails. I can't justify learning Rails if Meteor does the same thing and the demands for each are headed in opposite directions! your advice sparked a big reading session and made me re-evaluate what attracted me to Rails in the first place. BIG THANKS!
