Eyrie's actually the worst place to be in the Vale. The rest of it sounds quite nice or at least Ruinstone and that village the Hound and Arya go to do. There a bunch of board knights with nothing to but protect people form mountain clans the bottom of the Vale is warm enough to grow corn fields in autumn. Your specified time period kinda rules out two of your picks for me. - The Eyrie is busy being encroached by advancing winter and is about to be abandoned entirely, and if getting there in the summer is an ordeal, winter access is impossible unless your low level lord somehow can borrow a dragon. - Dragonstone is still the location of wartime hostilities with a Stannis-loyalist garrison being beseiged by King Tommen's forces, and while it's implied this is resolved by the end of Feast it's not without significant casualties. Unless somebody's lying, but still.

Plus there’s the Iron Bank, the multicultural religious district, and the canals. If you’re just sticking to Westeros proper, I feel like Bear Island has some perks if you love nature like I do. It could be a nice little microcosm of the North to visit, without much threat of wildling raids or getting caught in the crossfire of a war.

This is gonna sound crazy, but The Wall is the definition of "would want to vacation, wouldn't want to live there" for me; assuming I'm, as you said, nobility and therefore an honored guest. (As opposed to a recruit or a refugee) It's cold as balls, sure, but it's established they keep the castles well-heated. You could put on your layers and look at the view from the top of the Wall; maybe even get a Black Brother to guide you through the gate gate so you can take one step out and brag to everybody that you TECHNICALLY have been north of the Wall. Then you can go inside and read some of the library's books by the fire, or join Mormont and the boys for dinner. I enjoy hearty messhall meals and ale, so the descriptions of Hobb's cooking always make me hungry. And the Crows always have interesting stories, both from before and after they took the black. Note this is only early in the series; once the war with Mance starts, followed by the aftermath with all the scarce resources, I wouldn't want to be another mouth to feed. But the way the Wall is described when Tyrion visits makes it sound downright cozy.
@Caramelo236069 ай бұрын
As a disenfranchised young man, the Wall sounds like a sweet gig. Sure, there's nasty people up there, but if people like Sam, Satin or Giant can manage, so can I. You just have to find the obvious secret Prince and become friends with him.
