I'm so angry about that. I mean I don't know what meds she was on, but most anxiety meds don't make you high. Like okay so I'm not allowed to operate heavy machinery after I take my meds because they have a drowsy side effect, but they don't drastically change your brain function to the point you'd kill your own baby.

Agreed it's shaming everyone with an anxiety disorder! And the mom also explains her antianxiety medication is a daily non- narcotic medicine she takes. That's like saying someone on heart medicine is using prescription drugs and drinking. Just another ways to make the story juicy without technically lying, but leading the listener.

I found a *very* developmentally disabled toddler (2 years ago) 14-18 months old running into the street and I got him and he thankfully led me back to his house- A HALF BLOCK away. His mom and dad were screaming running looking for him completely distraught. He unlocked the door and took off. Babies are escape artists. Anything could have happened to that poor boy if I didn’t get to him. I thank the Universe that I walked a different route on a gut feeling that day.

@@You.Tube.Sucks. go on Amazon and find some door/window alarms. They're super easy to install, just peel and stick, but anytime a door or window is opened they will chime or alarm (depending on what kind you get/ what you set it on). Those are a super cheap way to know if your child opens a door or window, or even a cupboard if you want to put them on cupboards. Other than that, a real home security system, dead bolts or those other locks like hotel rooms have, that are up high and keep the door from opening all the way. Mom of 6 here. 😊

When I was 20, and living in my 1st apt, I came home one afternoon from Community College, was running to the bathroom I swung my front door behind me and it didn't close all the way. When I came back out of the bathroom there was *an unknown child IN my livingroom*! She had just been wandering alone out among the apartment buildings; I only lived at this site 6mos and the on-site managers changed 3 times, so yeah, not the best place. This was an errant 3yo, and of the two of us I was the one freaking out. It took the better part of 30 freaking minutes before I could convince her to exit my apartment and let me escort her back to where she came from. Finally, finally, I got her back to her mom, who hadn't been looking for her, who was standing in the middle of a completely empty apartment; the only 2 other things in that unit with her were an infant in a carseat and one of my upstairs drug dealer neighbor boys. Oh yeah, and the mom was a girl I had gone to grade school with, tho I'm not sure she knew who I was. Awesome...

1000%. I'm a social worker. Cops called me in because a 2yr old was found wandering by a water tower in his diaper and a shirt. Found the parents almost immediately bc they called the cops after searching, like here. Kid was napping. Dad was sleeping bc he worked overnights. Mom had run to the basement to put in a load of laundry. They had already added a chain lock to the front door to try to keep him from running into the street. But he got out of the patio door, out of the fence and across a 4 lane street and just down the road to the water tower. The cops kept telling me we should take the kid bc this happened. Um. No. Shit happens. This poor mom was losing it. I felt so bad for her.

Where do you think the first grey hair came from?! Children! Or at least from truly putting the care of and best interests of and protections of another before yourself, without question, without thought. I don't share my DNA directly downward with anyone, but damn do I feel incredibly protective and loving (and woefully outnumbered and confused by people's behavior & choices) toward kids. I totally understand your position in the story you told, shit happens, absolutely, and the kid's folk's were doing what they ought to be doing - looking all over for him, they called the police, etc. You would have had a different response if they'd not even known or been concerned about the child's whereabouts. You handle each case as it presents, because if you just use a formula to handle them what need is there for a human caseworker? But humans should handle humans, there is so much nuance and detail to each incident with humans, even if the broad strokes seem to draw the same outlines. Keep up the hard work, you're doing important work 💖

Ya, and the window being open, but then the screen was messed with and the front door unlocked was the first uh oh for me. I know she said in the video that it was October... But, I'm in Mass, there are still warm days in Oct. More than that, my electric bill is all mine to pay, lol, BUT heat and hot water is included and that heat CRANKS! I can have my thermostat off completely, But the heat in the apartment bldg hallways are set pretty high and high enough that i don't even have to turn my heat on til mid November, beginning of Dec some years. And my windows can be open a crack up to December and my son will open his window to the 'lock open' all year long.... The kid is a like a furnace yr round, lol....with his fan on at night, it's open to the point of where it's locked, but open a bit, except if it's snowing even in the dead of winter. Because my heat is included, I don't mind if it's open (as long as it's still locked), plus it gets very warm in my apartment and very dry because of it so I don't see ANY problems with that window being open. The screen being tampered with is what would catch my attention. These people talking about the wine is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. They are talking about it like she was sh00ting heroin and knocked out with a needle hanging out of her arm with kids running all around and drug addicts in and out of her house. 🤦‍♀️ She had a few glasses of wine, wasn't sure of the time she checked on the baby is what it sounds like to me. Sometimes I didn't check on my son in his crib because I didn't want to wake him up when I opened the door because it took a while to get him settled the first time. It's crazy that this mom KNEW that she'd be judged for drinking and maybe it wasn't the BEST thing to do drinking until she was blackout drunk, I don't know.... But it's crazy to me that she KNEW she'd be judged and felt she had to lie about the time she checked in on the baby. I mean, WHO TF EXPECTS someone to creep into their house and steal their BABY right out from under their nose?! FFS. I can't even IMAGINE what they must be going through & to top it off, know people think they are the reason 🥺😠 Especially when TWO people seen a man strolling down the road with a damn baby, a man that has a history of fire starting, and a fire was reported on the same night w burnt baby clothes. Wtf?! When someone has "arson" on their record, it's VERY hard to get them placed because usually people who have arson charges will repeat that behavior (compulsive & destructive). So, if he was ever to be arrested he wouldn't be able to do certain things inside the jail (like work release, or certain jobs, or programs, etc), it'd be hard for him to get into a treatment program, any kind of public housing, etc...because they tend to repeat destructive & compulsive behavior.... And this guy seems to tick every single box 😳

For example, I'm autistic - when something earth-shattering happens to me, you won't necessarily see that on my face but it doesn't change the fact that inside I'm broken like everyone else would be. On the topic of McCanns, there is a great vid by The Behavior Panel - they are experts and quite entertaining guys. Ramseys are similar to McCanns, yet so different. Take Burke Ramsey - I'm not blind to the fact that he's giving creepy vibes, but so am I when I'm stressed and surrounded by a lot of strangers... I'm not saying that if you're autistic or neurodiversed in any other way (and he allegedly is), you can't do bad things, of course that's not the case, but simple judgement of people's facial expressions is an oversimplification. Long story short, check out that channel I've mentioned - they are great at explaining nuances. PS. I also agree with all of you that the mom looks painfully real, dad as well.

He had the stolen phones , he tried to call his girlfriend! So that placed him in that house, he had the phone! So the motorcycle guy said he saw Tanko with the baby . Wasn’t that the photo he picked out?! They wasted so much time because she drank wine that night! My now 19 year old once managed to pull the safety gate fully off the top of the staircase where it was securely fixed and then effectively surfed down the entire staircase on top of said safety gate. He also figured out how to rock his cot in a very creative way to create a swaying motion to lean it against another piece of furniture in order to create a slope to climb down and out of the cot. Gotta be one step ahead sometimes ❤

When our son was about 3 wks old, I woke up in middle of night to check on him, & he was missing from his crib! I woke my husband, turned on all the lights, ran through house & found him in our den! Our 5 yr old, who loves his baby brother, decided to get him out of the crib to watch Disney movie together! I was so relieved! Our baby was perfectly fine & happy with his brother! I can't imagine what these parents are feeling!

I live in KC, and the Lisa Irwin case struck me SO hard because my oldest son is just a few months older than baby Lisa. I was home alone with him, my husband away at work, when the story first broke. I am in the tiny minority of Kansas Citians that has always believed Lisa’s parents are innocent in her disappearance. For all of the generosity and positivity this city offers, they have treated the family (Deborah primarily) so horribly. Lead by the KCPD and the local media, the rumors and hatefulness have been astounding since day one. People just won’t hear of anything that doesn’t fit the “Debbie did it” narrative. It doesn’t even matter that after all of these years, they have found absolutely nothing to support that. I 100% believe that Jersey is probably the person that took Lisa. I also wholeheartedly believe that if the Irwin’s were well off, living across the state line in wealthy Leawood, wine night with a neighbor would’ve had a whole different tone around it in the media.

It’s blowing my mind. Multiple witness say they see a strange man with an underdressed baby roaming around the neighborhood and local area. This man is also known for being an arsonist and has a warrant out for his arrest. Baby clothes are found in a dumpster fire on the route he likely would have taken. Clearly it’s the mother, who didn’t crack under 11+ hours of interegation! We know this because she had the audacity to drink WINE on her front porch while her children were asleep! It’s a goddamn joke. I really have to wonder if the PD just had a vendetta against the family or if Jersey had friends in higher places that were obfuscating the investigations. Always the chance that it was straight up incompetence too, but this lack of effort put into this case feels almost malicious.

By locating, I also mean finding information that could be useful on the search. All she seemed to care about was the number of glasses, how often she had wine. I found her work absolutely not helpful

The fact that she checks in on her daughter almost every night is a routine and you sometimes can't recall if you actually did that day or the the before. For example, taking medication each day, or locking the door when you leave. Every time it's so similar that sometimes you have to think if you've done that today or yesterday. Happens to me all the time so I understand the fact that she can't recall if she checked in on her baby before bed. And the reason she probably changed her story is that she analyzed that night a million times over and couldn't figure out if she had done it that time as well.

Not all of them are so incompetent. The police are human beings, and there are a lot of them in this country. So, it stands to reason that within the thousands of investigators, spanning all 50 states there are going to be some very bad investigators and some very good ones. Unfortunately, in this case, I believe baby Lisa’s investigators missed the opportunity to rescue her because they developed tunnel-vision early on.

Me too! So many missed opportunities! You never know how you’ll respond in situations like that. But, I feel pretty confident that if I saw a man walking @ 4:30am holding a baby that young in nothing but a diaper- in October @ 45 degrees- ...I would be suspicious enough to call the police to come just check him out. My first thought would be that this is a father who suffers from some mental illness who is off his meds, etc. But, I would definitely call for someone to intervene.

I agree, even the way she was fighting for breath through her tears here and there seemed really genuine to me. Yes, I think it was very unwise of her to drink enough that she forgot to check on the baby, and yes, they got a bit defensive when the police targeted them so heavily, and I’m sure that didn’t help their public image, but I think I’d be defensive in that situation too. It would be heartbreaking. So sad for them and just awful about the sweet baby 💔

Absolutely. I personally would never talk to the police without a lawyer present, regardless of whether I was actually innocent or not. There are way too many times people have been coerced, threatened-even beaten and/or killed (more common in certain countries, but still)-and just so many things that could go wrong or be pinned on the wrong person. We have rights for a reason, and that’s why we are allowed to ask for an attorney present when speaking to the police, so people can get mad all they want about it but it’s your right to do so. Same with invoking your 5th Amendment right of not saying anything at all; It’s even in your Miranda rights read whenever someone is arrested that they have the right to remain silent, yet rarely people actually stay quiet. I mean, they even tell you that ANYTHING you say CAN and WILL be used against you, so best thing to do is ask for a lawyer & stay quiet. The police have techniques they use to get answers, and while they may work to help get the answers they need, they can also hurt an investigation if they have the wrong suspect in custody that they’re questioning & doing these tactics on.

My daughter’s dad has been just as involved with her as I’ve been since birth. In fact, I didn’t get to chance a diaper for three weeks, and he was sad I didn’t wake him up for that one. He was going to have to go back to work soon, so wanted to do all he could every moment he was home. Fast forward 11 years, and he’s still equally involved as I am, and since he’s able to work from home, that’s doubly true. Thanks to a society that says moms are supposed to do it all, I often feel like I’m neglecting her by not doing more, even though I consciously know that the two of them also bond over him taking care of her and that me trying to take away the things he does wouldn’t benefit them. We’d strive to make sure we can set the example that moms aren’t only moms and nothing else. Pre-pandemic, I went to clubs, on my own three hours away, no less, and am debuting in burlesque this weekend, and she knows, and her dad does stuff too. Yet this “Moms are only allowed to be moms 24/7” bullshit message is still in my head.

To see her like that and to hear dad's voice waver when he was speaking was truly heartbreaking. I've seen evil parents who are acting distraught and this is not that. Those poor people were openly grieving and pleading with the public to help them find poor baby Lisa and their own community spat in their faces and accused them of negligence when there was zero proof of any kind of abuse against those babies. It's so disheartening to see the amount of effort exerted to accuse innocent parents while 2 houses down, there could be a child freezing to death on his father's cement garage floor, but because he's a police officer no one looks twice. I don't know what needs to be done to save these babies, but what we're doing isn't working and it's terribly tragic.

I think that the reason that she originally was not forthcoming with her level of drunkenness or when she last checked on Lisa was because she was afraid that she would be charged with neglect and she would lose the other kids. Then, she realized that the best way of Lisa being found was to be completely honest. I also think that they need to track down Dane, the guy who supposedly fell off the face of the earth, and exactly where he was soon after the abduction. I wouldn't doubt if he sold the baby to an illegal adoption ring. If those 2 guys were in on it from the beginning, then it would explain why he made sure he had the phone all night, as he waited for the call to tell him they had her.

She sounds like she really needs help to address her drinking or another tragedy will follow. Children cannot thrive in this environment. However, I agree with you that Dane & Jersey need to be thoroughly looked into. There are just too many coincidences with the phone, the man with the baby, the dumpster fire that ties these two together. I hope that the police are seriously looking into this, but I suspect and fear because of the mother’s irresponsible behaviour and lies in the beginning they got tunnel vision and dismissed anything that did not support their theory that the mother was responsible. So sad, either way the family needs closure and Lisa needs to be found!!

I agree. I think anyone in that position would be scared and realize that the police would automatically suspect them. I think most people in that position would downplay their drinking at first. And this is coming from someone who doesn't drink at all. It just makes sense. People get scared, especially in a situation like that and if she didn't have anything to do with it (which I don't believe she did) she'd know her drinking was irrelevant to what happened to her baby, so she probably figured it wouldn't hurt anything to say she'd just had a little to drink. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ppl also use calling DCS as a way to get back at ppl even when nothing serious has been done. Parents afraid to discipline their children anymore. And the DCS system is as corrupt as they come as well. Things are so messed up anymore. There’s no trust with anyone and when you don’t trust ppl you don’t feel safe telling the truth and being honest. So very sad and heartbreaking ☹️

Deborah probably didn't want to admit how much she had drank at first because she knew she'd be dragged through the mud and accused of child neglect, which is exactly what happened. But when she realized that it would be better to be honest in order to help find her daughter, she told the truth. I feel like that only makes it more credible that she didn't have anything to do with Lisa's disappearance.

Lying cops are terrible. I had two seizures in one night, and the cops (in CT) put me in a mental home. Then the horrible cps guy who wouldn’t ever let me finish a sentence and walked to the bathroom down stairs, knowing I just went in there, with the door half open, just to tell me he was at my house, which he knew my husband just told me told many lies took my kids away. Which is illegal because of seizures. He claimed it on PAST mental health. If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone!! The police need reform and not to call everyone mental. I hope to write a book or be on a podcast when this is completely over.

I think lots of little girls walk by then. Lots and lots. I used to work in the one year old room in a daycare and about half the little girls walk by ten months and a quarter of the boys. My daughter walked at ten months and could climb out of anything. It was actually horrible, out of car seats and we had to move her to a toddler bed in our room because cribs got too dangerous and letting her free range at night was also not a good idea. Looking for the child first is definitely not suspicious. Even if she couldn’t walk, kids shimmy outta the crib. I’ve seen my own kid to this. My baby, weeks old, rolled off our couch! Just home from hospital & was told to put him on a couch cushion or pillow if you have to walk away bc babies that small don’t have the muscles yet to lift their heads or roll to one side-so I did just that, turned around & he rolled himself off the couch. So yeah, babies are capable if amazing feats! Also, that’s genuine grief, genuine not knowing, probably genuine guilt for not re-checking on her before Deborah went to bed. And multiple witnesses spotted a man carrying a child, much like the McCann case. And there’s surveillance images if a man carrying something but they really can’t see what it is, but he matches the “kidnapper” others saw. Most police DON’T believe they had anything to do w/ Lisa’s kidnapping. This case is so frustrating-this one, McCann, Ramsey, Cayedito, Abeyta…so many others where it’s like they were most likely kidnapped but no one saw a thing!! Or maybe they did-and they’re just not talking. Very sad.

I have a confession. One time when my oldest child was about 14-15 months, I got really drunk after I put him to bed, and was super hungover the next day. In my hungoverness, I accidentally fell into a deep sleep on the couch. The doors were all shut, but SOMEHOW my son got outside, which he had never done. Luckily, my stepmom showed up shortly after that and found him before he wandered off. God, I got a talking to after that. Lol. I’ve never felt so scared and ashamed as I did that day. Needless to say, I never drink anymore unless I have a babysitter lined up for the next day now. I feel a deep amount of sympathy for this mother. I 100% believe she had nothing to do with it. Yes. It might have been somewhat irresponsible, but I’m sure she never thought in a million years anything could happen. I can’t imagine the overwhelming guilt she must feel everyday of her life. My heart breaks for her and the family.

“Not cooperating” pisses me off a little because I had cps called on me and I did everything they asked me to for months while they “investigated” but finally I said “y’all said you have no concerns but you keep coming at me to do more things so no I’m done” and they took me to court for “not cooperating” and so I’ve seen a pattern that if you’re not doing everything and exactly the way they want that they’ll throw that term out. Be more specific… “they’re no longer speaking with us personally and only through an attorney”, “they’re denying any lie detector testing”, etc for whatever applies to that person. I cannot imagine having to tell them their baby brother is gone.... and here we are, all these years later and their baby sissy never came home. Deborah might have had alcohol problems, maybe she was even a bit irresponsible as a mother...But her devastation and crying was real. And baby Lisa's father was clearly lost, in shock. If either of them were faking, then they are Oscar worthy actors.

What really pissed me off though was the way she announced that she was on PRESCRIPTION meds like it was something that proves her as shady. It was prescription anxiety meds she's been taking. I feel so sorry for this mother

Right?! The way she said prescription was purposely to make people think she was on a mind altering drug or something similar. I take anxiety meds every morning. I am on my young 20s and I happen to enjoy alcohol frequently. Although the drug instructions say for every medication to not drink alcohol while on this medication, I still do. And it doesn't affect me in any way differently than before I was on my anxiety meds!!!! Ugh so frustrating! I'm not a parent yet and I feel her pain!

My parents used to have me scared to death of this. Apparently I had such a big head I could just plop myself out of my crib by 9 months. I would plop out and just come crawling into the living room. Dad said one time he found me playing in the toilet. It happened so often they just got used to it. I was so scared my kids would do it too. They were all early walkers, but thankfully between crib improvements and luck none of them did

Yep often got out of my crib at that age according to my parents. Also, everyone saying that its weird the window was open if they were trying to conserve energy is ridiculous. A lot of people like to sleep in a cold room, with a breeze. A lot of people don't rush to turn their heat on at the start of October (especially in kc because wait an hour it will be 80 degrees again)...

I started walking at 7 months. My dad put the coffee table outside on the porch so i wouldn't bash my head on it.... weeelllll my ass got a stick, opened the screen door, walker outside and bashed my head on the table 🤣 im 33 and still have the scar. Im the baby of the family, i have 2 older brothers and when a baby has older siblings to watch and learn from they learn everything FAST. Way faster than if they didnt have other kids to watch and mimic. My mom was and is over protective and an extremely good mother. It only took me 10 seconds to smash my head open haha she still cries and blames herself 33 yrs later 🤣 which break my heart thinks of Debra because she's going to blame herself for eternity even when its not her fault. Shitty police work and an even worse media ruined this entire case. Its blatantly obvious to me that she is innocent. A a mother myself my soul just shatters for her.... she must live every second in pain because even tho its not her fault she most definitely blames herself like all us moms do... damn...

If someone doesn't know any better and they believe in the results of the polygraph test, telling them they failed is a very efficient way to get them to tell the truth; this is what happened to Chris Watts. Of course it's junk science but frankly so are dogs and both of these are just tools to get actual evidence. A polygraph fucking up a case really just means that the police had tunnel vision and the case was doomed from the start.

They may not have had that technology then, but good detectives anticipate upcoming science. They could have taken their door handle, the crib, the clothes, anything!! It doesn't even sound like they tried to gather evidence at first! I mean, he had to have at least touched the screen!

@@jfm14 @JFM she was drunk enough to not remember important events. HER words. SHE said she took anxiety medication. I mentioned it because it's likely that it would exacerbate her intoxication. I don't know why you're getting so emotional over a mother who made a mistake rather than the kid who's missing. Maybe you feel called out because you've been in the same situation. I didn't accuse Deborah of anything, I said there is a distinction between casually enjoying a few glasses of wine and getting so drunk that you pass out.

Do you honestly believe that Lisa would have been abducted even if her mom wasn't passed out drunk? Not likely. I don't believe she harmed her daughter, but her behavior was negligent and created a situation where it could and did happen. A drink or two? Whatever. Being admittedly passed out drunk? Completely reckless and irresponsible when you are the only adult caring for three young children. What if one of the children needed to be driven to urgent care or the emergency room? What if there had been a fire?

I totally agree. I sensed the mom and dad were telling the truth from the first interview. She was genuinely upset like a mom would be. Also, I would say the majority of mothers have had fuzzy wine nights after a long day of taking care of kids and also are on anxiety meds.
