Thanks for the video, Fraser. You have helped me to decide to take an excursion to the volcano when we dock in Arrecife. We'll have lunch in town afterwards and also walk along the coast. One place I do want to see is the Islote de Fermina which was built/designed by César Manrique. Cheers.

Ahh, I’m glad I could be of some help. Sounds like you’re all sorted for a great port call - thanks for watching my video and therefore supporting my little channel! 😊

Hi Fraser, I'm German and watching your videos because I'm taking my first P&O cruise on Azura soon. Being German, my first ever cruise was of course on AIDA. My parents are big fans and cruise with them all the time. For me it has remained my only AIDA cruise so far but not because of anything they did, I just like trying out different lines. Anyway, AIDA is quite different from any other cruise company: There's no main dining room, instead there are several different buffets (an Italian one, an Asian one, a German one, a world foods one. On the newer ships there are also several included, smaller (reservation required) table service restaurants, again serving specific cuisines like French or sea food or a German Brauhaus with beer benches, pork knuckles and sometimes live oompah music. In the buffets, a red and white table wine and a beer on tap are also included. The board language is German but of course all crew speak English and so will most fellow passengers. I don't know if they have English versions of all their printed materials like daily schedules, though. Being German, AIDA is big on quite active excursions. Loads of bike tours, e-bike tours and decent hikes on offer. I'd absolutely recommend giving them a go. You can check out Morgan's videos from The Unofficial Travel Guide. He's an American who's been living in Hamburg for a long time. Here's one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmGlZWWajdGIhbs All the best! Henning

Hello! Thanks so much for leaving this comment - great to learn more about AIDA! I think I’d really like to give them a try at some point - their ships are absolutely stunning! Hope you enjoy your first experience with P&O Cruises!

Aghhh ! Missed the crimbo dinner- went to the Beach House for the sizzler !!!
@FraserAtSea Жыл бұрын
Ah, how annoying! However, the beach house sizzler was fantastic, so I wouldn’t worry about missing out… Next time!

This was fun, thanks! Beautiful place...well.. Except for the back alley brewery. 🤣 Always sad when things show up in the cabin about last day. I admit I grinned at the drum joke. 🤪
@FraserAtSea Жыл бұрын
Ha, not the cracker joke…!! Agreed that the back alley brewery didn’t hit the right chord - I’m not sure what they’re thinking having that as a top recommendation. Maybe it means I’ll need to go back and try a beer next time…!

Great video thanks, I love Lanzarote, especially Playa Blanca. The views from the top of the Grand hotel are really good but yes the towns pretty quiet. When I went early December I did the Playa Blanca trip then round the port town and they had a fabulous nativity model town near the hotel and beach.
@FraserAtSea Жыл бұрын
Thanks for dropping this comment in Alison. Completely agree re the view - stunning, isn’t it? Playa Blanca will probably be on my list next time - not a huge amount to do local to the ship, but nice for a wee wander to pass a day!

Maybe people are mainly on trips that’s why the beaches are empty , there is a lot to see in Lanzarote , we had a two week holiday there a number of years ago . Hired a car and got around the island , it is worth getting out and about if you are there for any length of time .
@FraserAtSea2 ай бұрын
Yeah, I’ve heard this from a few people actually - Lanzarote does get very good reviews from people I’ve met over the years! Thanks for watching this one - always nice to see your name pop up!

Loving the rule of buying something in every port! I think Aida is German. Germany s versuon of P & O i think.

Every little helps! Didn’t realise that re Aida, but does make sense - think I’ll give them a try at some point!

Yet again another fantastic video. Some great shots of the food in the main dinning room. Looking forward to the next one. Only a few more weeks and we're off to do the same. Thanks for all the info

By contrast, all the ports when we travel there later in the month I have been to several times. Doesn't matter because it's a cruise and the weather is better! Arrecife always pretty quiet, but it seemed particularly so for your visit.
@FraserAtSea Жыл бұрын
Ah, you’ve done Arrecife before? Yeah, felt a bit ghost town-like when I visited, which felt really weird when we had a good amount of people on the ship! That said, I’d much rather have a nice quiet port (and beach) than a bustling one!

@@FraserAtSea I’ve dropped you an email about a legitimate business enquiry, not sure if it’s gone to your spam, but would be great if you’re interested, not spam! (I know re-reading this it sounds like a spam bot but as i’m a new and very small business quite a few emails just drop into peoples spam folders!)

Hi Frazer , enjoyed this episode to Lanzarote, full of information. How long was the walk from the ship to the town , thanks.
@FraserAtSea Жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks guys! The walk probably took about 10 minutes to get to the section with the yachts, then about another 20 over to the town - all super flat though, so a lovely walk to get rid of some cruise calories… Haha!

I'll tell you where everyone are, they're out on extorsions either to Playa Blanca or Puerto del Carmen or Timanfaya.

Did you have Afternoon Tea on the ship?
@FraserAtSea Жыл бұрын
I didn’t unfortunately - I had a quite scone at the buffet with a cake or two, but didn’t make it for the more ‘formal’ affair in the Main Dining Room. In all honesty, I couldn’t have eaten more food during that week, ha!

How long will it take you walking from the port to the shops?

Hey! From the port across to the town didn’t take long at all - half an hour maybe? Enjoy!
