It seems wild that the consensus 2nd best player in the draft, could fall far. People talk about a concern about the timeline for Demidov to come to NA. However, drafted players in the NHL draft typically are at least 3 years away from the NHL anyway.

demidov's agent is also levshunov's agent, dan milstein. i'm sure it will not be difficult for a gm to have a discussion regarding what demidov's intentions are, whether they involve remaining in russia (if so, for how long) or moving to na, etc.

Chris, I was leaning towards the Hawks taking Lindstrom. But after hearing about him with herniated disk leads me to believe they should stay away from him. Levshunov doesn’t seem to have the Wow factor for a second overall pick. I think they should see if someone would be willing to trade up and give the Hawks an offer that could get still keep them in the Top 7.

If the injury was a huge problem, he would be falling. His stock has actually been going up. If doctors and GMs aren’t concerned, why are fans hyper-fixated on it?

Demidov has been declining extensions already and even trying to break his current contract to come to NA next season. Not sure why people are concerned about SKA when he’s shown no signs of wanting to stay there.

The Blackhawks spoke with Levshunov multiple times over the course of the season because 3 of their top prospects played in the same league as him. They didn't go out of their way to speak with him.

Based on what? They’ve met with him a bunch. Nobody said they only talked to him when he played Michigan or Minnesota.

I almost wouldn't mind if the Hawks could find a team to trade down with. Maybe in the five to six range and snag a guy like Iginla or Beckett Sennecke. It just seems like there's too much risk at two with the guys who are worthy of it.

Levshenov risk? Demidov I get you may have to wait a couple seasons, but that still isn’t a risk this teams got some time before there making the playoffs.

@@mike8099m About to say the risk on Levshenov is that he is only a top 4 d man as long as he stays healthy. Currently no health flags on him. Deminov might be Panarin, or he might be someone who's game can't handle the physical play of the NHL. I love his numbers, but some scouting has said his skating needs work, he leaves himself open to bad hits, and big physical teams have been able to slow him down. I don't know about anyone else, but hearing a player may need to change how they physically skate (something about being a heal skater?) is a potential major issue. Also no international Under 18 play. I thought Deminov also said he wouldn't skate at that combine a week before the draft. That raises concern for me. on Deminov. As a prospect with questions, and not skating in the combine feels like he is trying to not hurt his status instead of secure his status. IF he skates it can erase those questions.

Demidov, first year he is eligible to play in the NHL, he will. He is ready to play in the NHL now. He automatically becomes the 2nd best Hawks forward on day 1.
