Brother I liked the Iroc but there is no sound like a 5.0. And I don't mean the new one. Even the new 5.0 don't sound like a Foxbody 5.0. The sound, the look. There is no other. They are just a awesome platform.

You could tell a fox body from a couple blocks away by the sound. My wife would always be impressed that I could tell what the car was that was coming, I told her they have a unique sound to them, then she started to be able to tell them apart.

Every time I leave my car at my mechanic, he calls and tells me people come in and give him offers for my car....well above what I paid. I have an 89 GT convertible. 49K mile car, in very good condition and I think I paid over price at $12,000, but the offers are well north of that. LOL.

When I first started driving I was in love with T-Top IROC's with those iconic 5 star mags, swap the Auto tranny out for the 5 spd to mate with the 350! My first car was a 90 LX 5.0 with the 5spd which my dad sold it to me for a dollar. The few 5spd 350 Irocs and Trans Am's that I knew of didn't stand a chance against my bone stock LX 5.0. This was during Fast and Furious 1 yrs so everyone was racing and I barely loss with a intake and exhaust 5.0. If we hold onto these Foxes they maybe worth a small fortune

I'm a diehard FORD guy. It doesn't matter what kind of Ford. I even have a Ford riding lawn mower. As a teenager my first vehicle was a lowered '69 F100 in 1988. But I fell in love when I first saw heard a 1987 GT. I knew I had to have one. Hell, the desire to own that car motivated me to get good grades in school and go to college so that I could afford it. I bought the first one at 22 and today at almost 50 it is still my favorite car to drive even though I have others that are faster and more refined. It's stock, unmolested, has 300K miles and still runs flawlessly. I also own a 65 Sportsroof and a 67 coupe but the ol fox is my baby.

I remember when they were attainable and sold for 3k-8k everyday of the week. In the past three years they have appreciated a lot. Same thing happened with the ford lightning first gen. I paid 5700 for a rust free 89 notch as you can see in my profile picture....it was almost turned into a drag car but I saved it....has a 460 in it at the moment but all the wiring is there and the previous owner saved all the interior pieces so I've been putting it back together and soon I will be getting rid of the 460 c6 combo and either going coyote or a Windsor based stroker build that will be a street/track car and it will be in award winning shape....the project has just begun and I'm not rushing it one bit...I'm in my 40s and owned over 15 foxes but this is my first notch...I've been wanting one for well over a decade now and finally found one to build!

I've seen this happen time and time again since the 80s. I sold off a bunch of different types of classic cars back in '15. And I got as much as I could. I never believe that those cars would go for what they do today. Thousands of dollars more.i wish I would had seen that coming. So I think these cars will keep going up and up and up.

I think the popularity is based on the main age group that likes them. It’s the mostly older crowd, myself included, that likes an old fashioned push rod engine instead of the later OHC engines. The stock OHC engines produce more power than the stock Windsor 5.0, but mods are easier on the 5.0. It’s also nostalgia. When I was younger, I wanted a 5.0 Mustang but it was out of my price range. Now that I’m older and have money, I bought one, then another, and another. I’m guessing it’s the same with Camaros, Corvettes, 300ZX, Supras, RX7s, or whatever.

I think the lightweight chassis and nostalgia of us guys in our 40’s likely having one in our teens is a good chunk of the reasoning behind the recent uptick in popularity of the Fox Mustang. I always get noticed when i daily drive my 91’ LX 4 cylinder (now turbo), even when its filthy and needs a wash. Lol I also enjoy seeing 80’-90’s GM F-body cars, on the road, I always wave to them and they wave back when I’m in my Mustang. I was actually getting gas the other day when I noticed iI was actually getting gas the other day when I noticed in an 89’ Camaro at the other pump, chatted with the dude and found out we both really dig each other’s cars, and he’s the same age as me. The GT sideskirt thing is really frustrating. I need to repaint mine badly, and my sideskirts have that wave going on from all these years. But I don't want "Cobra" sideskirts, or blank aftermarket sideskirts. You are right, someone needs to do something about this. I may just end up having to go with the wavy originals, because I'd rather have the lettering.

I think they will continue to rise, but slower than the mood trajectory of the past few years. They made a ton of them but almost all of them were 4 cyl econoboxes. Of the V8 cars, how many died to rust since they are huge rust buckets? How many got used up for race cars? These were the cool car of choice and builder car for all of generation X. There aren't that many nice, unmolested ones left and those aren't going down. I wouldn't trade mine for a 65

Not all of the generation that saw these cars on the streets for the first time were able to afford them. Fast forward 20-30 years to where many of those same people now have careers and the funds to make such a purchase. These cars aren't too complicated to work on either which makes them appealing. Even though original parts are getting more scarce by the day, aftermarket companies have stepped up to support the enthusiast now more than they ever have. In many states, emissions restrictions are off the table so passing an inspection with a relatively modified car is actually easier.

The Fox platform's greatest strength, IMHO, is it's light weight. If you have taken a door off one, you know, especially if, by comparison, you have had to put door bushings in a Camaro, or Monte SS, (because their doors are so damn heavy, they crack by the rear view mirror, and kill bushing like no other).

I don't disagree with this. I'm seeing a lot of cars selling in the $3500-$6500 range in the pre winter sell off that usually happens this time of year. That absolutely wasn't the case last fall. You were lucky to find a non 4 cylinder or a clean roller below $6k. The hype has definitely died down and prices are leveling off. Let's face it, there was a lot of free money circulating last year. This year, people are feeling the pinch of risen fuel, food, and goods. No one is throwing money out left and right like last year.

I just bought an 87 for $2.5K running and driving and I feel like I stole it. Once I’m done with it I’m pretty sure it’ll sell for over $10k. The market is strong right now because the people who grew up with Mustangs now have the income to afford a luxury like this.

I buy cars because I like them and love to upgrade them...when I sell them, I never expect to make what I spent...that's not the plan, but if I do make money that is fine; I've learned that, if someone really wants you car, they'll pay what you are asking.

2 weeks ago I bought a roller 85 coupe for a buddy out of state and shipped it to him... $3k, in TX, mostly rust free but yeah, the coupe prices are getting stupid.

Hard to say but it wouldn’t surprise me if prices were similar in 20 years. Roughly 2.6 million Fox Bodies were sold. About 2.5 million 1964.5-1970 Mustangs were sold. I agree with and believe the prices won’t jump like they have the last 3 years but they will never be what they were 5-6 years ago. Those days are gone forever. It will be a slow a steady rise from here.

I’m 31 and there is a huge change in prices in just the last 10 years, I think. You could go cruising with 1000 bucks and find a running project sitting in someone’s yard. Now people want 3-5k for their non running/driving projects. I saw this trend happen before Covid.

I have a 79 Ghia Hatch with the sunroof. A few years back it was KBB at around $1,800. Today if I was to sell it it would go for anywhere between 7k and 12k! Unfortunately in my younger days I decided to switch the factory red interior with gray. So I tossed the red factory Ghia interior in the donor car and sold it, leaving me with a gray, non factory interior. I also tossed the factory nose and hood for a 84 GT setup and 89 LX taillights. Now I am torn between just staying the path I have taken or going treasure hunting for the original interior etc. Luckily I didn't touch the factory tilt steering and intermittent wiper setup. I never plan to sell the car so I am thinking it is irrelevant whether it is factory anymore. Still, only 39k(ish) Ghia Hatches were made in 79. One thing that I cannot figure out is it is an F code 302 vin but the previous owner swears it came with a 255?

I have been looking for a nice original notch (no mods) for a couple years now. For unknown reasons the notch fox 90-93 in California is not there. Tons of beat up hatches for 10-15k. Maybe some day I will find the golden egg.

I think it will be more like an old school mopar. Just a certain kind of people buy them. I don’t think it will be like an old chevelle. Everyone wants one. Feel like they will be like 69 Camaro. Factory stock will bring all money but heavily modified ones don’t. I know mine is heavily modified from stock. And no way would get top grade even though it’s a clean daily driver. A/c cruise work. I’ve had to rewire so much in this car because of the small wires used to power things.

I'm seriously planning to make some new parts for the Fox body Mustangs, not a whole lot left that isn't being made already but I have a few things that are being studied for a new tooling. We can make a relatively low production. We have already reproduced the 15" 82-84 Trans Am hubcaps, exactly like the originals (aluminum on ABS) and the first shipments will be in a couple months. If you have some good ideas of parts that are in demand for these, let me know. I have a whole list, but I know four eyed models better than the Aero nose.
