Magic! I love Princess Louisa in winter, but last July 01 - 03 the sheer number and volume of waterfalls was awe inspiring. We literally watched Chatterbox grow in the heat of the day.

Many years ago I stayed at Malibu Club at the entrance to Princess Louisa a few times and once hiked in the mountains above Chatterbox Falls. It's just an incredibly beautiful place. When the tides are going in and out, it creates really big standing waves in that narrow passage, and seals like to body surf and play on those waves. When the current is really strong as the tide is changing, it looks almost like white water rapids - nothing goes through. You have to wait for slack tide. As you're cruising along Princess Louisa toward Chatterbox Falls, there are some huge cliffs on your port side that give a really strong echo if you shout toward them at the right place. I'd love to go back there again someday. It's amazing.

In the late 70'swhen I was in the U.S. Navy we would test fire MK48 torpedoes near Winchelsea Islands. A couple times we went up into Jervis Inlet to test fire some MK46 torpedoes in the deeper waters. Loved hearing the Nanaimo under military operations broadcast! Great to see some of this scenery again, thanks.

Love the BC videos. I know these waters well and spent many years working and playing there. No matter how good the video quality is it just can’t do justice to the amazing beauty of these waters. My brother in law, ventured to Garden Bay Via Malaspina, many times and two hazards stood out. Log booms under tow - with wood waste and knowing tides. Entering Garden bay was always a challenge in a head sea - also using a high tide to go inside the marker buoys. Low tide always added considerable trip time. Love it guys!!

Fun fact, the Sunshine Coast was given its name by a real estate agent selling property there. I spent 3 summers managing the Backeddy pub in Egmont. It has a marina as well that lots of boaters staged at before heading to Princess Louisa. The falls are pretty amazing. Those narrows are nasty. Nice job on the courtesy flag as well. Second fun fact, that resort looking property you passed at the narrows is a Bible camp. American kids from Washington get put up there in the summer. Back in the day it was high end and hosted the likes of Marilyn Monroe and John Wayne.

I hit a log at 3am once. It somehow missed the keel, but hit the rudder hard enough to knock the autopilot off line. That was in January near the Snohomish river in Saratoga Passage. The days are so short in January, it's hard for a sailboat to get anywhere with daylight at both ends of the trip. That was part of why we left early, but the main reason was to have favorable currents
