Rex took this role and song to a level beyond those who came before or after.

Letting the audience know that Grappin is really Percy adds so much humour of this scene! This show is amazing; I can't get over it!! I love how Rex Smith just hits and sustains that last note like it's the easiest thing! Incredible! Does anybody know where the full show could be found?

Hooray for more!! I simply love Rex. That last note is all kinds of fantastic. And yes, Doug is Grappin. Or, more like Percy is Grappin.

I saw the show back in 2004. I was thankful to find this online. Do you have the other numbers too? Like the ones sung by Rachel York and the others by Doug Siles? I've met him a few times. He's really nice and very handsome.

What does Graphin (the other guy with Chauvlin) say at 1:20 when Chauvlin asks him how he is at forgery?

"This one I think I can manage" (Percy in disguise)

I agree that it had a bit more bitterness to it, but I like the way Rex Smith presented this one a bit better. I just think this version sounds a little bit more 'upset lover' ish. Anyway, that's just me :)

Completely agree with mmgrigoire2. Terence Mann's version had sooooo much more passion and anger in it.

Is there some place where I can download Rex Smith singing these songs?

Mixed feelings. I love Rex Smith and i love how he ended the song on that long note,BUT I liked Terrence Mann's version more. It felt like he was more torn and angry at Marguirite. But that is just my opinion. Anyway I love Rex Smith buut this not my favorite version of this song.

I agree. I love Mann's version, and though I love Rex Smith, I thought the other one was a bit more emotional.

terrence mann has a better version of this (he was the original chauvelin)...umm, i don't know if you could find a video with his version on it because wmg has just extended its copyright claims on that song...

I don't know, I haven't read the book or watched the musical as a whole, but I thought he was just saying to himself 'Give up on trying to win her back, and our lives are so despairing that it batters us and leaves us alone'. If that's any help

In the book they aren't even in love. Honestly, Chauvelin wasn't that deep in the book. I thought the musical gave him a lot more character.

@@goodtimes8229 I truly wish that there was this character arch and romantic dynamic and tension between the trio, it would have added so much more, when I realized the book wasn't at all like this I was quite disappointed

so whats the meaning of this song?
@silverrimmedrain1916 жыл бұрын
ok, terrence mann is much better at this song than rex king...
