@@DanBorens No definitive answer but quite often those shows fall somewhere in the middle. Producers push people to do certain things which in turn generate a reaction. Like telling a contestant in the dining room "If any customers complain, don't hesitate to send them to Ramsey". They know Ramsey hates being interrupted during service. And they give him carte blanche to react however he pleases. Without the producers, those people might not have dared go to the pass. Or had Ramsey had a great day or in a particularly good mood, he might have been more tactful. The producers spend their time setting up such little situations hoping they pan out for camera.

Tbh if a contestant behaves like a kid he will be treated as a kid, not an adult. And Gordon saw this childish behavior in Matt, so he treated him like one. Making excuses is what kids do. Adults take responsibility. Funny that before black jacket Matt vocally said "sorry chef", but after he often made excuses, like the infamous migraine thing and unable to feel his hands. Gordon was obviously sick of him and ejected him.

People who don't have migraines don't understand just how crippling they are. My wife has them. The pain isnt just in your head, it makes every nerve in your body so sensitive that even wearing clothes is physically painful from the contact. I can’t remember what season, I think it was 2, but a contestant shot themselves less than a year after being on the show. He was super tough on her and told her she would never have a restaurant above a fast food joint. I’ve noticed that since that season, he seems to have let up a bit on his contestants. Her name was Rachel Brown.

And yes, the contestant was Rachel who unfortunately commited suicide after Season 2 ends due to the pressure of competition. Because of this circumstation, Ramsay decided to hire psychologists for any contestants who got eliminated to not feel the same as Rachel did

That's not true either. Hot water evaporates faster than cold water. In both systems you can't just break the laws of thermodynamics. Think, what happens when the hot water gets to the same temperature as the cold waters starting temperature? Why wouldn't it take just as long to get the rest of the way to freezing like the water that started at that temperature?

i love how the show looks like a fancy kitchen and dining area. I used to deliver there, its a warehouse in the middle of a bunch of other warehouses in Culver City and in the middle of the nearly empty, dusty warehouse is a set with 3 propped up walls, for the kitchen and "dining area" then a set of folding bleachers on wheels.
