In Roberts defense, I feel like nowadays you need to say that! I’ve seen the top YT beauty gurus do makeup on other people and it looks like shiite! They can only do makeup on themselves which means they’re not real life MUA’s!

Shao-Ning - I use foundation brushes to buff things out so they aren’t so concentrated/bright. Definitely start with a small amount of product but remember that almost everything can be fixed - worst case scenario, you need to cover it up and start again. This is exactly how I think of it! It's the difference between saying "You have to wear blush" (not true) or "If you have a round face, you need to apply blush this way" (also not true), and "If you apply blush in a certain way, you will get a certain effect" (true). I'll kick anyone who tells me I can't wear blush on the tip of my nose; I think it looks cute as hell 😂

Definitely true. There ARE some rules to applying makeup, for sure. Much like building a townhouse, there are certain things that you have to construct, in order to call the structure you build, a townhouse. If you forgo certain structures, that’s totally fine but!, the finished product will probably be called something other than a townhouse . Maybe it’s more of a Colonial style then. Doesn’t make what you created wrong, just different. 😉

I do have a longer face (its more diamond shaped), but I apply my makeup to accentuate the length, rather than make my face appear more rounded. My favorite way to wear blush is to have a more "nude" blush on the outer 2/3s of my cheekbone with a small pop of a more pink/red blush right at the beginning of the inner third (but not all the way to the nose). It adds nice dimension to the face and emphasizes my high-but-not-prominent cheekbones without actually lifting them (which makes my eyes look small) or dragging my face down (which just makes it look like I'm wearing 10x more makeup than I actually am).

This is very helpful, thank you very much! I've been trying to incorporate blusher into my routine since my sunscreen makes me look a bit ashy. Adding colour to my skin would've perfect except whenever I try to apply blusher and bronzer it just doesn't work... and kind of given up on it. Now I know what went wrong and how to actually apply them for my face type. 😘

Could you do a video on how to compliment blush to eyeshadow and lipstick? I've been experimenting with bold eyeshadow looks but never now which blush I should wear with what color.

So so glad I watched this video , I hv a round face and my whole life I always smiled and that’s where I would place blush on apples of cheeks because that’s how I was taught omg game changer !! Can’t wait to try this ! Subbed 😀

There are no rules in make up, but actually there are. THANK YOU. You are such a nice person to comfort others that want to do it differently, but it seems exhausting to have to apologize to stop people from looking absurd.

I would love if you talked more about highlighters because I feel like I “should” like them but it is not flattering in real life. I use very little because I don’t want a colored textured strip on my face

When I do my own makeup for just going out it's just for fun and I really like my face looking very full and cute (even tho I'm quite plump and full already) but this will be so helpful for my cosplay makeups! Thank you

@@RobertWelsh thank you for replying! Yeah ive always struggled making my face look like the characters just with contour so this will really help. Btw do you have a video on what the beat contour products are cause I've had a hard time finding a good powder that's not kinda streaky

The movement of egirl/Asian Beauty/allergy chic has actually improved my blush game a ton! Bringing the blush up and more around the cheeks makes me look more cherubic and refreshed instead of overworked and tired.

I just put a dot of cream colour about two fingers space slightly diagonal from under the centre of my eye/pupil onto the cheek ( I have very slim fingers so thats not too far down) and blend it towards my temple, still focusing most pop of colour on that centre point. Have no idea if it's the right thing to do for my face shape but it looks sorta cute I guess 😅

i just realized how much more like James the "round face" side looks! You two have always looked different to me, but now I realize it's part because you contour to change your face shape and without makeup you look even more alike! Anyway, that's just my epiphany lol.
