100% second this comment!! (as someone from the Uk who has lived all over cape town the last 5 years). Coming back in December want to bump into Rhett and Claire!

I was actually on KZbin looking for this specific information. I've seen a few of your videos, and KZbin recommended this one to me. Many videos I've come across don't showcase the diversity of the landscape and the distinct characteristics of the neighborhoods in Cape Town. This video is incredibly informative and well-done. Just subbed!

"Blouberg is a bit far". Spoken like a true Cape Tonian. I live in BB and it's not far at all - it's a 20 minute drive to the CBD (without traffic)

Great overview guys We stayed in Green point and found it super convenient for our days in CT before heading up the west coast and then over to Franschhoek and Stellenbosch Missing SA so much, had a blast. Back to reality now in Ireland where the weather is rubbish and ileverything is so expensive when compared to SA. Have to come back and get to Fyn as we missed out this time.

We spent a month in Woodstock and would definitely add that to the list.

Woodstock and “Obs” were actually on the list originally but we spent the weekend there and decided to take it off due to security concerns. Overall, we wouldn’t recommend the majority of tourists stay there.

All good areas to stay.. I guess it's really up to the individual and what they enjoy doing. Personally, I like Woodstock and Observatory...These neighborhoods are down to earth genuine places..

Thanks for the comment. We did originally want to include both Woodstock and “Obs” we even went and filmed a bunch of footage there but honestly while we were there doing that we felt rather unsafe the whole time so we decided to exclude them. We’d rather not recommend the average tourist stay there. Especially those that come from extremely safe places and don’t quite have their “wits” about them.

I want to give a HUGE shout out to Ellerman House! That was the best place we ever stayed. I've never been treated better in my entire life. They arranged, booked, and drove us to all of our destinations. They had the ins to take us places we would of never found. Strongly recommend people check them out!

Just wanted to add a shout out to Somerset West, Strand, and Gordon’s Bay as part of the greater Cape Town area that shouldn’t be missed! As someone lucky enough to live in Somerset West, I can vouch for how much this area offers for travelers, especially if you’re looking for a place to relax, explore, and feel at home. We’ve got some of the best spots for AirBnB stays here, with beautiful mountain and ocean views all around. Somerset West sits right on the doorstep of the Stellenbosch wine route, which is amazing if you’re into wine tasting with a view. Strand is perfect for beach lovers, with its long, sandy shore that’s great for a swim or just a relaxed day out. Gordon’s Bay, meanwhile, has a really cool harbor that’s great for a stroll or a meal by the water-plus the mountains here make every drive a scenic one! And everything’s just a short trip away, so getting around is easy. This area has a lot going for it, and any travel guide covering Cape Town should definitely include these gems!

Great if you add the crime factor in these areas. Its an issue; thus, best to be honest and transparent. Also, load shedding is an issue - best to know in advance. Thanks for your insight. Are you able to add costs to accommodation?

Sea point/ greenpoint / camps bay etc where this video is shot is one of the best areas in Cape Town. Can't say there much muggings unless you asking for it. I reside in Cape Town was probably mugged twice in my 36 years.

CPT is really a funny place to be, dystopian might be the correct word for it. When you look at a map, only about 15-20% of the city is safe for tourists to go to, and that will be the V&A, Sea point, table mountain, Century City, Stellenbosch and Constantia. Some nice decent places outside of the city like Betty's Bay, Gordon's Bay etc but for those who don't have experience driving in a non-developed country, the chances of having something bad happen to you is astronomically high. I was lucky enough to venture out into the Cape Flats (Ottery, Lotus River, Grassy Park, Athlone and Rylands) as my friend came from one of those coloured neighbourhoods, and it is almost like being in another country altogether. Lots of human suffering, gangsters and drugs, a level of evil which would be unimaginable in western europe or North America. The rich have to build big wall, electric fences and sign up to armed response to ensure they don't end up as a murder statistic, so even if you have the money, you are not free in that country; you can only safely enjoy your luxuries in your gated home or in a very, very small areas of the country flanked by security guards and guns. Apartheid is still alive and well in that country; coloured people generally don't go to black neighbourhoods, and blacks generally stay away from coloured areas due to fear of racial violence. Beautiful, beautiful country geographically, but for most tourists, once is truly enough. Still worth a go anyway for sightseeing.
