So glad I found your channel. I love that you cover "other" music theory topics that are so overlooked. There are 100 other channels for music theory (modes, harmony, etc.) but find your topics and presentation so clear and precise. Thanks!

Very envious of your piano skills. Love the New Orleans "Professor longhair" groove, but those rhythmic block chords are so evocative of hundreds of late 60's , early 70's hits : The Beatles, Carol King, Procol Harum, Carly Simon etc etc..

Interesting. Thanks. Now I have better words to describe what I naturally did over the years while trying to learn how to play piano from a lead sheet. My satisfaction with playing increased as I began to vary the instrumental form from block chords to alternating rhythms and arpeggios, and from close chord voicings and root positions to more open voicings and inversions. These are lessons I intend to bring along as I delve into the world of composing.

Hi Chris I just discovered your channel and love it! I was wondering what is the beautiful sound in the opening…maybe a steel drum but it has something special, can you tell?

As a non-musician, I feel like I'm really starting to get a feel for what composers are doing and how it's not just a bunch of notes strung together. This is a really fascinating channel and not just because it often celebrates Philip Glass and Steve Reich, though that certainly doesn't hurt!
