I've used Cloudflare for years for security but as a registrar it was a disaster for me because they don't let users change the DNS unless you in their business tier which charges $200 a MONTH! If you don't ever need to change name servers, it's fine, I guess. Support is ZERO though - LITERALLY

For me... 1. No email. They "include" email forwarding but it only works with select email services. eg, it won't work with gmail last I checked. 2. You can change the name servers. 3. zero support which is a disadvantage unless you're highly experienced with their system. @@babitasaha6655

About the privacy thing, you don't need it, after the GDPR law that the EU enforced in 2019 no personal information is allowed to be given in public db like WHOIS. So even without it you are fine.

@@rush9800internet traffic still gets send to the EU so other countries need to accept the fact that they need to follow the law. Though you are right if that traffic is not supposed to go to the EU then they might as well not follow it. Though point still stands that if the internet traffic goes from let's say India to Germany, India must follow EU's internet laws. Same thing if it is the opposite Germany to India. Lets also not forget that EU is a big influence in what content goes out in the internet. Thus why if some non-EU country wants to get that info then both parties must follow their laws.

I guess I am a little bit confused. If I haven't purchased my domain, can I just purchase it straight from Wix? If I want to connect WIx to other registrar I would need a premium plan on Wix anyways. Also, I don't see anywhere the pricing you mentioned in this video. The cheapest option I see is $16/month after the first free year.

Thank you for this video! I did notice that cloudflare would not allow to change the annot change the nameservers of a domain registeree of a domain registered with Cloudflare to an external service. Does that mean that if I want to get the domain from cloudflare but get the hosting somewhere else, Cloudflare is not a good option for the domain name?

'Best' is debatable. 'Best' for what factor - price, service, security, privacy, jurisdiction? You talked only about price and a little bit on services. I think a more accurate title would be 'best value domain name registrars'. But even there you don't go into much detail. Thanks for one introductory assessment though.

It’s this way regardless of where you buy your domain. You could pay for multiple years at a time, but you are essentially renting the domain, you stop paying, you’ll lose the domain.

If you want to continue to use the domain, you'll need to pay for it each year. If you only need it for 1 year, just pay for 1 year and don't renew it. After you purchase, make sure auto-renew is turned off so your card isn't automatically charged at the beginning of the 2nd year.
