Very useful thank you, definitely can be a complicated issue parking and made me realise I didn’t know everything about parking. I tend to stick to using car parks and always check I’m correctly in the bay before leaving the car.

I learnt something new yesterday and thought I’d share it with you all, if you’re not sure what a thick red line next to the kerb at a bus stop means, it means exactly the same thing as a thick yellow line, it’s just showing that it’s part of a red route, it means other vehicles are prohibited from stopping, only buses can stop, private hire vehicles can’t stop at 'bus stop clearways' marked with a wide yellow line by the kerb, on red routes both taxis and private hire vehicles can’t stop at bus stops marked with a wide red line by the kerb.

Parking on pavements is generally not allowed unless councils specifically made out parking spaces on them. These would have parking signs and corresponding restrictions laid out nearby.

Hi mate, great video but I’d just like to mention a few things please, if you don’t mind, with the white zigzag lines, the near side line means no parking, the offside line means no overtaking, with the yellow zigzag lines, like with all clearways, it’s ok to stop on them for reasons outside of your control, but even if there are roadworks and traffic lights you should not stop on them if you can do so, try to stop before them and plan ahead and only move when you can clear them without stopping on them, you said it’s illegal to park opposite or within 10 metres of a junction but in the Highway Code, rule 243 states “do not stop or park opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet or roughly 2 and a half car lengths) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space, except when forced to do so by stationary traffic”, it doesn’t say must not, it would have also been great if you talked about controlled parking zones and restricted parking zones.

Hello 👋 Thank you for your valuable contributions. You make some interesting points. With parking, the subject is almost never ending. I didn't know that the white zig zags were different for the near side and the off side. I will upload more videos shorty on parking in certain areas. 😀

Hi mate. 👋 You’re always very welcome, I thought all driving instructors knew what the white zigzag lines meant but I’m always so happy if I l teach someone something new. 😃
@dtc_uk4 ай бұрын
@WayneTulip-zm9gw hi. I always knew what they meant lol 😆 it's just the nearside and off side bit
@WayneTulip-zm9gw4 ай бұрын
Lol 😁 Ah I see, so you didn’t know what nearside and offside meant? All driving instructors should know that because you use them when you turn right at crossroads, basically nearside meant next to the kerb, if 2 cars turn nearside to nearside they turn in front of each other, it’s the most common method used when turning right, it improves traffic flow but you don’t get a great view of the oncoming traffic, offside means away from the kerb, turning offside to offside gets gridlocked very easily but you get a great view of the oncoming traffic.

Hi Wayne. There's a misunderstanding here. You said thT the nearside zig zags meant no parking and the off side zig zags meant no overtaking. My understanding is that white zig zags means no stopping AND no overtaking. However, you are stating that the zig zags on the nearside simply means no stopping. AND the one on the off side means no overtaking

On white zig zag if you are not allowed to even stop then what should I do if I entered the zig zag and a person starts to cross the zebra crossing ?
@dtc_uk4 ай бұрын
Hello 👋 is that a joke 😃 if a person starts to cross the road, you will be stopping in the middle of your lane, NOT pulling up on the left
@greenstar1804 ай бұрын
@@dtc_uk ah I see the diff between stopping the car and pulling up on left and stopping. That wasn't clear to me on first watch. Thanks!
