Where to Retire: Ashland, Kentucky

I recently moved here and can say the loose dogs are a big problem in the Ashland area

Ashland is nice. But you don’t have to live in town. You can still live in the Ashland, KY area like Summit.

Noise is a big problem with peoples dogs here in Ashland. Animal control won't enforce leash laws. In many areas our neighbors have loose viscous dogs and nobody will do anything's about it. Not to mention the crap they leave all over your yard when you don't even own a dog. :(

@@michaelfitzpatrick4489 Well I believe in respecting others property, If you don't then I guess not. If someone has a dog they shouldn't allow it to run the roads and on others property freely. What people do here is not even legal. We just have a county government that doesn't enforce anything. The dogs are are the ones that really get hurt out of this I've seen so many beside the road it's sad

A good small town with good parks for kids and a great dog park. Great schools for the kids. Winters are shorter and milder great summer entertainment.

Looks like a nice town. Interesting old traditional southern architecture. Do you know what I'd enjoy? If you drove down a typical middle class neighborhood street and showed the houses.

My husband & I found Kentucky great for our needs as retirees! We traveled across the western states & found Buc-ees in Texas! Best place ever!!!

Its a huge superfund site.

The EPA website lists the Ashland City Dump as a superfund site. But, a lot of people seem to like living in Ashland itself. Thanks for the comment.

It's absolutely horrible the weather in Kentucky is horrible extremely horrible I don't recommend moving to Kentucky under any circumstances.

Youre on that fine line right in the middle so instead of snow or rain you get ice... Ice storms are horrible, stuck without electricity for days or weeks every year. Not to mention all the other type of ice flooding the streets. My kid seen a boy smoking meth on the school bus in 6th grade
