In Europe, and apparently in Russia, eggs are not washed after the hen lays them. That means they still have the natural protective coating on them and won't dry out or absorb other odors. In the USA, eggs are washed. That means no coating. So they get refrigerated.
@mynameisprivate158
@mynameisprivate158 4 жыл бұрын
This is because in the US they have mega egg farms that are unsanitary and filled with bacteria and diseases so they use antibiotics on the chickens and they have to wash the Ecoli and salmonella off the eggs in other countries they are farmed in a more local health manor and washing the eggs isn't necessary. The same reason they irritate beef in the US!

To combat salmonella, eggs in the US are washed which removes dirt, feces etc, but it also removes the cuticle. The cuticle is a natural membrane on the outside of an egg that protects it from being infected. Europe, and Russia do not wash eggs, thus the cuticle protects the egg from bacteria. 2 different ways to prep the eggs from farm to table.

@Mor Dor I am sorry for those not familiar with US & Russia relations right now and maybe this comment should have had context. In America, every since the 2016 election, all we have heard for 2+ years now was how Russia this, and Russia that, etc. We are told that Russia is nothing but pure evil and everything bad is blamed on Russia! (slight exaggeration) That is what our liberal (democrat) media (90% of all media) has been spewing ever since the democrats lost the 2016 election. Even google has joined in by making RT (russian television) on youtube carry a disclaimer to let all know that it is funded by the Russian government. Do I care? Then I find this lovely channel. This lovely channel. I repeat, this lovely channel, that I love. Relaxing, insightful, and educational. I think that it might be our governments that have the issues and not necessarily the people of the countries. We may not agree on everything, but I will bet that both sides would be far better off if we both chose 200 random people to rule our countries every 4 years instead of politicians.

@Mor Dor 90% of Russians do not rent--you mean they purchase their apartments? That is still a cost that would have to be accounted for, either as mortgage payments or total cost amortized over the average ownership span, including adjustments to reflect mortgage and rent on equivalent apartments in equivalent neighborhoods--it all just gets too complicated. Mostly I'm just tired of seeing, "wow, that's really cheap, in America that would cost..." Just for curiosity, what is the standard Russian work week? 40 hours?

In the UK I have a friend he is an egg farmer. He says eggs should be kept in a cool dark place but not in the fridge for maximum shelf life. The only reason I think why western shops want to people to think that they should keep eggs in the fridge is because putting them in the fridge actually reduces the shelf life and thus you have to throw away more eggs if you keep them in the fridge. So you need to spend more money when you buy more to replace them.

If eggs are washed, they need to be kept cold in refrigeration. And they can last from 2 weeks to maybe a month. If unwashed, they may sit at room temperature and will last the same amount of time. Here in the states, they wash the eggs and thus the need to keep them cold.

In the USA the eggs are washed and it removes the protective coating. Eggs that are not scrubbed can last a long time without refrigeration.

How much is the milk in Russia? The eggs in Russia are soooo cheap (2USD for a dozen of eggs in my city) I really enjoy watching your Russia's local life videos. Thanks for making them.

the classic packing of eggs in Russia 10 pieces, is of 30 pieces, eggs, divided into categories, ie the larger the egg size, the higher the category the higher the price of 10 pieces(sometimes, the price affects the color of the yolk, ie the more rich the color the more natural it is believed for that the chickens are fed supplements(ie more expensive feed), one of the lowest categories-2 costs about 90 cents(about 50 rubles),With 1 more slightly more than $ 1, select 0 eggs this is where the 1.5 USD per 10 pieces. Of course, in different regions of Russia prices vary, +\-, in neighboring regions are usually about the same price

@@макслюлюкин thanks for replying. Even the best category of eggs in Russia is still cheap. In my place, the price of eggs only varies by the size, organic and omega-added. 2USD for 12 eggs is the only basic price

like the size of a store in the 1960's or 1970'2 in the USA and not so much junk products 1/10 the amount of sugared soft drinks. Prices are 1/2 to 1/4 the price in the USA [rural town of 22k that has a Walmart Supercenter, Blain's Farm and Fleet and Menards].

Every mini market and supermarket are all sold products that distinguish only product packaging and prices! maybe for the price there is more expensive because there is a sales tax and purchase tax on every item we buy. I like videos you can add insight and experience. because each country has different ways and traditions. for the category of shopping for the rich and the poor all the same in every country there must be a line limitation that distinguishes between rich and poor that is a global problem every country must exist and also experience social inequality and income per person.... 👍👍👍👍 good jobs girls

What a wonderful store!!!! Great variety. Nice and clean. Please review prices for meat and cheese. Identify western brands like Lipton Tea, Pepsi, Coke etc. I assume made in Russia. I assume all products are made in Russia. Russia has everything. I will visit you on Victory Day next year!!!

Tea is all imported and usually comes from India and Sri-Lanka. It may be only bagged in Russia. Pepsi, Coca-Cola and other similar beverages are bottled locally from a concentrates, that are imported as well. There was a locally produced cola-like beverage designed in the USSR, called "Baikal". I believe, it is still manufactured by some Russian brands. And there are also a number of locally designed and produced non-alcoholic bubble drinks in Russia.

@@СветланаАлексеева-ш1р Yes, I know that. Also, in the USSR there were tea plantations in Georgia and Uzbekistan. Unfortunately, the quality and taste of those teas, comparing to an Indian tea aren't worth mentioning, in my opinion. With all due respect to the workers of those plantations. Sorry.

@@SQSNSQ Krasnodarsky tea was good and fresh. As for imported teas - retailers ofen buy 2-3 years old teas as they are way cheaper (the same in US and EU) so people hardly ever try real fresh tea. I did. It's dangerously effective ))

@@nataliakorshunova5909 Well, a different colour pencils taste differently, as they use to say. I don't care much about caffeine contents, actually, the lower it is - the better for me. And I HATE a green tea taste. And for me, Krasnodar and Georgian teas taste very much similar to a green teas. So, I'd better stay with a seasoned Indian tea instead. That's where my cup of tea is. :-)
