Very good points Colin! As a younger angler learning to Fly fishing for Atlantic Salmon it's taught me to be an much better observer. I spend a lot of time exploring very remote pools and stretches of river. My best piece of advice to folks exploring new waters for salmon and trout, is to take your time. Don't rush into that nice new beautiful pool, sit back for a minute and observe the water :)
