Where Will Lauri Go? Mock Trade Breakdown

Now that we are a few months into the season, trade rumors are starting to circle around the league. One of the biggest stars on the block is Lauri Markkanen. In this video I go over some mock trades to see where Lauri could potentially end up.

Need a combo of 5 quality picks / young studs / no child abusers. Teams need to feel at least a smidgen of discomfort to get something of Lauri's caliber. All-star, young, under paid, plug and play, deadeye shooter. See the Donovan Mitchell trade for reference. Jazz have all the leverage, since he's happy and Jazz have many other options in future picks and trades.

It seems like Okc is the best trade partner based not only on more 1st round picks but also the fact that Utah is doing a great job in developing players. Also they are not in a win now situation so they don’t need expensive veterans. And on the Okc side, they have a better balance of offense and defense especially with Shai being elite in steals and Chet being elite in blocks. They just need help in rebounding while not getting a player who is a liability on offense. Lauri definitely checks both of those boxes.

Danny Ainge is going to ask for too much and end up screwing himself by ending up in a Pascal Siakam situation. If he doesn't trade Markkanen before the next season start Markkanen is going to demand a max extension or say he'll wait till free agency. Ainge will then be force to give a max contract to a 28yr old in the middle of a rebuild.

I don't think Jazz have announced anything. 🤔 I think all the reports have been on the type of "other teams front offices have got the feeling that Lauri isn't untouchable" or "my private sources from inside the Jazz says that he can be had if there is Gobert/Mitchell type of package offered". Nobody is going to offer them that kind of package from the player that is unproven at playoffs and have been all star once. I don't think there is very many people in the whole association that would bring home similar packages at this moment of time. So Lauri will most likely stay in Utah and I am happy about that 😄

Why would the Jazz want Siakam and Walker Kessler together? How would that work? Siakam for John Collins and Jordan Clarkson and a 1st would be better for the Jazz. And I only want that so we can finally be free of Jordan Clarkson and because John Colkins low-key sucks at defense.

I think the Thunder’s timetable to compete for a championship accelerated with the emergence of Shai/Chet/JDub, and that leaves Giddey unable to fully develop into the player he could be. I also look at a guy like Cason Wallace who can give a lot of the same production Josh gives. OKC has so many assets and young players I think they can consolidate

If he were actually getting moved the only team worthy of a deal is OKC m
