Hi Diane, I hear you and I share your dream of a vintage room filled w eclectic furniture all joined together to serve your needs. I've started mine. It helps to shop thrift stores. I volunteer at one so I get 50% off my purchases. I set a goal, start stashing money away like $5 $10 or $1.00 when ever I can. Then I decide what I "need" how I'd use it and measure a space for it. One thing I do is promise myself that I won't compromise on is ( use and size). Then I begin to look I look at what's out there and I measure and take a photo to see if I can get a piece and repurpose it, and get some bonus storage if I consider a piece I didn't b4. I'm really inspired by a friend who uses hutches. She paints them white. I bought my first small hutch and I did NOT compromise. I store all my fabrics in it. Vertical and pretty storage. I love it!!! I'll send you a photo.

Thanks for all the inspiration! I think we like the same studio spaces/craft rooms. My dream is to have a beautiful space like that too using vintage colorful furniture and containers. Don’t know if it will ever happen but I’ll keep hoping. In the early 2000’s I had a beautiful and fairly organized craft room but that relationship ended and I moved on. My craft and art supplies have never been the same lol. I once when to a creative event called “Spark” in Utah over a long weekend and one of my classes was taught by Cathe Holden. She was the sweetest person and I didn’t know who she was at the time. We made bird nest necklaces out of copper wire and had pretty little blue beads for eggs. She is one talented woman.❤ Tammie

I agree! I would love to see those studios and look at all the pretty baubles and trinkets and open all the drawers to see what other treasures they might contain ❤ but I’m grateful for what I have, even if it has an air of perpetual clutter about it!!😂 now I need to go buy one of those magazines 😊

I could watch and listen to you all day do this with these magazines! And I agree with you. The IKEA craft rooms are so beautiful,but I get excited with old cigar boxes, vintage wood and metal cabinets, sewing drawers, etc. Sometimes I’ll buy a vintage container that I like and then put it away until I can find a purpose for it. I kind of take my inspiration from Tim Holtz’s studio. I have strong moveable steel shelves loaded with my ephemera and books. I have found a couple of watchmaker cabinets with long flat drawers to hold my goodies. They are very heavy so having the steel shelves is practical-and gives an industrial look I like too. Ok…apparently you struck a chord with me on this video! I could go on and on! Lol!

I tend to stand when I'm working on things, but I also appreciate sitting down to do fine work. So ... I found a hollow door (on the curb - excellent condition), I purchased two prefab thin cabinets at Lowe's (drawer on top and long thin door on bottom) and presto - I created a workspace that accommodates both! I purchased a tall upholstered chair on sale at Target. It has been a wonderful change to my room and I don't believe I spent more than $100 for the cabinets and chair. I don't know if I'll ever have such a beautiful studio as these lucky women, but I'm always on the hunt for pieces that can replace shelving, etc. Maybe someday, sigh...

Hi Diane, I love watching you harvesting your mags. This is fun. I had a thought. What if you make a journal of things that you'd like in your creative space. I started to do this in a journal. I'm separated it into topics. Inspiration station = craft room, tools of artisty,=paints, inks, etc......I've noticed also the ideas are nice but we are artists and we make art from scraps and ecletic things why not dream it in a journal. Even a drawing of the floor plans and furniture you would like and make up stories of trunks and cabinets where they came from and upcycled pieces and their stories. You get it. Playing and dreaming. It's good for you! Only one rule. You can't say I'll never have this bc you have it in your mind. Build it into Diane's Artistics Anthologies. Remember my soon to be channel name? It all fits in my Artistic Anthologies I may need to make more than one. Possibly a shabby chic, retro, take it away Diane!! Tfs

I enjoyed this video. I love Rae Missigman. She paints and makes journals and has a line of stencils at Stencil Girl. Now I'm going to have to find that magazine for myself so I can read it. I spend more time organizing my craft room than actually crafting, lol. At least I can catch up on videos.
