Robert McKee, A Fulbright Scholar, is the most sought after screenwriting lecturer around the globe. He has dedicated the last 30 years to educating and mentoring screenwriters, novelists, playwrights, poets, documentary makers, producers, and directors internationally. Those who have learned from McKee have called him "the Aristotle of our time" because of his insight into the substance, structure, style, and principles of the grand art of story.

Great interview. Interesting discussion on great villains and their creation of a dilemma with examples from Joker in The Dark Knight and Lex Luthor in Superman. While I agree with you both when you say that Superman 1 was about something (i.e. Superman = Christ), Zack Snyder also did follow the Christ story in his Superman trilogy. The problem clearly was execution, though in Snyder's defense, WB did screw him repeatedly with their cut of B v S and then the JOSStice League. Snyder, however, did have some interesting ideas such as his exploration of fearful human prejudice against Superman in B v S. He likened this fear to the prejudice against migrants from other countries. The problem is Snyder is primarily a visual director and is not so great at executing his themes. They're not well realised by the story's end and they often get lost in all the spectacle.
