I remember I was about to start my first ever laminate flooring project in a friend’s kitchen a couple of years ago, admittedly very nervous & your video series, especially the tip on how to lay the tilt & click flooring in a space where tilting wasn’t possible, in my case, a refrigerator alcove, literally eased all my anxieties about that project. I can’t express enough how much I appreciate you and those who take the time to teach the rest of us who may not be so skilled. Thank you! Stay blessed.

I have done a few laminate and vinyl plank floors. I just finished a job after watching this, and quite a few other videos of yours. This job was the best, the easiest and would have been the fastest, if it was not also the largest. It is well worth a person's time to watch as many of your videos as possible before undertaking a flooring project. I am very grateful to you Joe, for what you have done for me with your channel. I will pray for your continued success with this channel and everything you do.

Joe, I followed your recommendations from your previous series on my installation and it went amazing. I had never installed flooring before but our vinyl plank looks great. The guys at the flooring store even scoffed when I told them that I didn't want any transitions. Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Just finished my entire house with no thresholds… Thanks for all your tips… especially the starting in the hallway layout trick, the starter strip last trick, and also cutting the front of the refrigerator panels, that was huge… The whole house stayed perfectly square… and got around the island with no issues… I also used quarter round at the exterior doors rather than the thresholds… -I hope the best for you and your family… I can’t thank you enough👍🏻

On your 2017 video on "where to start", you measured your line from the wall baseplate of the other room. I tried doing that but there is no way it will be straight from the hallway line. So I scratched that method. Good thing you corrected yourself here. Drilling

Where do you get that chalk line from? Do you like the Pergo Outlast line from Home Depot? You are a wonderful teacher. Thank you sir.

I watched your flooring videos dozens of times before and during installing strand woven solid bamboo without transitions throughout my downstairs. It went well and looks great. I guess I rushed and got a little careless with underlayment/leveling towards the end and have a few “squishy” spots. Is there anything I can do at this point?

did you sand down high spots and use drywall mud for some low spots? my house has similar layout of very large rooms tied together and then master bedroom at end of hall, so they will be running down a long distance of almost 45' - video very helpful on spacing out the starting points.
@sothatshowyoudothat3 жыл бұрын
I used Ardex feather finish to fill the low spots.

I've got a question and I don't know if it's too late to get a response but do you have to run the hallway like that or can you turn the boards sideways so you only have to cut them all for the hallway

When installing flooring on concrete floor with vapor barrier how do you do the layout? Lots of tape?
@seanlee16183 жыл бұрын
A laser level's vertical line can show the long straight line.

Very true! But I am showing this to people who do not have every tool that I have in my trailer and another $150 tool is not gonna happen for most. So , I share how to use a $3 stringline.,

so what do you do when you want vinyl thru the whole house and have multiple doorways in the hall, i started in the den and i stopped the job and cut the ends off to the hall way i want to get away from all the transitions so im pull those pieces up and continue the flooring from there, but there is a hard surface tile so that piece will need transition and a closet in the hall way the straight forward is a bed room and at the wall of the bedroom the hall goes to the right and goes to bathroom on same wall and another bedroom on the end of the hallway .

Measuring off the sill plate to extend your center line seemed extra at first since you're just going to use your original snapped line anyway as a final guide anyway, but seeing any differences from your mark will tell you how crooked that last wall row will be, and that's what a short cheater board trace will help with!

I have my hallway figured out perfectly, but if I'm going to match up to the hallway from the room I'm starting in, I will have to start with 1 inch wide pieces in the back of starting room. Is that ok or should I try something else?
@sothatshowyoudothat3 жыл бұрын
that will work. Just put a few drops of glue in the joints of the one inch pieces to hold them in.

I've watched most of your videos a few times now. They are great! I may have missed something though as I'm not sure what to do if the measurment from the wall of my room is wider at one end than the other. Which measurement do I use to make the chalk line? (my room is roughly 28' long and 11' wide at one end and 10' wide on the other end). (Or my other senerio is that my room is L shaped and I want to find the center of the room). Sorry.. I'm really new at this. :( I should also add that I'm installing the laminate in the basement .. 2 rooms.

If you measure off of the outside wall to get your measurement, you cant ensure that your line will be straight. js.
@roofwall17493 жыл бұрын
make that hallway line from end to end and only measure off of that ONLY toward the outside walls.. this prevents any non-square outside walls wont throw off your measurement.
