Been watching Dan's videos about a year, and this is one of my favorites. I was laughing so much at the Ajummas. Super friendly . Maybe a little too much Makgeolli.? Cool how you just wing it by yourself and go to these out of the way places. I used to do the same in the mid 80's. My Army buddy has a Triumph motorcycle and we would hit these villiages near Seongnam. Place where no Foreigners went. Super polite people. Always having a coffee or drink.

Yes they would, that's the worst part of Seoul, many small buildings have been knocked down to make sim city style buildings!! Have you eaten donkatsu in sinchon yet?

hongdae is in mapo-gu mate ... sinchon is in seodaemun! i realised the difference myself when i moved from yeonnam-dong just over the park to donggyo-dong. especially the main strip/playground, i.e. seogyo-dong. it's all mapoooo tofu. that long forest/book street park is basically the northern border of mapo/southern border of seodaemun. will be amazing if you can keep up the pace with these -gu videos! immense. this video was great, proper mixing with the locals!

a lot of those older areas were leftover after the korean war in the 50's, they're pretty old. Seoul and Korea in general is growing fast and there's no benefit of them continuing to be there and maintained.

You have to accept the country as it is. As we all know South Korea has a lot of issues but it has been trying to adopt the good and funky sides of western culture.
