I grew up in Pierre and then moved to the black hills in my teens. Now I'm grown and moved a state away, been gone for 7 years but I always come back to visit home. My kids will know everything South Dakota has to offer too. This song makes me want to go back for another visit sooner rather than later.

I'm from down south but my heart is in the north/midwest. I spent so much of my childhood there, it feels as much like home as where I live now. south dakota holds some of my happiest memories with my family and i miss it.

As someone who was born and raised in the beautiful state of South Dakota I miss it so much and I moved outta state but, next year in May on my birthday imma take my husband and my first born son to South Dakota and show them where Im from and where I grew up and South Dakota will always be my home no matter where I end up South Dakota was/is my home state and always will be ❤️🪶
