Yeah. Going to north during this time of the year is quite good beacuse it is the rainy season and everything looks green. The weather is good as well. Enjoy your days in Thailand. Greeting from northeastern.

You come in the right season. For me, the north of Thailand is most beautiful in the rainy season. I love the green, not too warm, not too cold. Even it’s rain, but there’s still one moment of the day with sunshine. 😊

Another great video love the experience you are giving to Malia, what an enriching education you are giving her besides geography and history. you are expanding her world and fostering cultural awareness and adaptability. Today she also learned problem solving, flexibility and patience. Lovely to see these beautiful areas that most tourists miss, so thank you for letting us see them through these videos

I love love love mon jam - I'm worried you missed the best part (in my book) of the area. There is a Hmong village with cafes, shops, and gardens up the hill with some of the most amazing views I've seen. There's also wooden downhill racers they'll let you ride for 100 baht. Such a fun experience - hope you get to make it up there before you leave Chiang Mai!

Good on you. For actually going to see what I call real Thailand. I kind of feel sorry for the people that just go to Bangkok and Phuket and think they have seen Thailand. I go to my wife’s family home in a small village called Mae Sap. It is about 45 km north east of Chiang Mai.

Mon Jam does look good for first time visitor, but if you have been to Phetchabun province you will be amaze for the mountain view. It has more mountain places you can visit than Mon Jam. Recommend try visit Khao Kho and Phu Thap Boek district. But it is rain season in Thailand now not much you can do in these moutain region. Perhaps best time to travel is from November to February especially in December the mountain is green, flowers flourish with bright colors also sky so blue and clear. However in the end of Feb begining of March the locals will start burning of crops field including the mountain farm land area.

Hello, we just discovered your channel while doing some Chiang Mai research and are so thrilled to watch this video - we plan to watch others! My wife and I honeymooned as backpackers there in 2017, traveling by 1 motorbike for much of the journey, and we are returning in a few months with our 4-year old daughter (sound familiar)! I was hoping to ask y'all about the motorbike with Mom on the back and kiddo on the front - is to doable for a dad that is wiry in comparison to your strength and build? Do you feel safe in urban areas, as well as the country? Can you recommend a powerful bike with room for a family of 3, like yours? No worries if y'all are too busy to respond, but figured I'd give it a whirl. In any case, you 3 seem to be just wonderful and your content is uplifting, especially for a 1st time parent / longtime traveler, like my wife and I. We hope your travels continue and that y'all are loving it (I'm sure that y'all are!!). Thank you!!!! -H, N and K

Hey thanks for the kind words 😊 I'd be happy to help with this. Your best option is probably Honda PCX 150cc. It has a big, spacious seat for a family and is powerful enough to get up the steep hills with all of you on it. The 3 of us combined weigh around 180kg so it's strong enough for most 😊 just please use a good shop like the one we used where they have good bikes, and good helmets even for kids. Oh and get your international driving permit before you go. It's super cheap to get and will save you lots of money in fines 🙂 Hope that was helpful!

We spent 3 weeks in Chiang Mai in November, traveled to a plethora of places, also flew south to Bangkok and a couple other spots/islands. The trip involved 8 flights, 4 ferries, too many Uber like rides to remember, temples, temples and more temples, bicycling, glamping, long boat for night time snorkeling, elephant spot (I don’t think it was the complete definition of the concept of a sanctuary). The idea of living there is intriguing but when the hot weather comes I understand it’s so hot even the Thai people don’t want to be outside in it long. I suspect that’s part of why some of the malls are massive as well as quite opulent. Also in the north the burning in China creates smog which is bad to be in much. Wonderful people, kind and helpful, no one sits expecting to be helped rather everyone is hustling in some way for income. You need to stop along the road and try the Roti. It can be anything from the main meal to the dessert!
@WhereNextFamily
@WhereNextFamily 10 ай бұрын
Yes we love the country and can definitely see the draw of living there. We were actually there during the hottest time and some days it was unbearable! Particularly in Bangkok where there's no wind! By the coast its OK during that time. Yes the North gets really affected by the burning each year so there's pretty much a 1-2 month window where Chiang Mai has the worst air pollution in the world. Thailand has a very special place in our hearts and I think it will always be one of the places we think of as "home" 🙂

Nice to see that you are optimistic re the weather. Hence you never hire a M/C or go in the rainy season + you don't go anywhere that you pay crazy prices when the Thais pay peanuts. I have just seen the price of the coffee 75 BHT for a Latte. They must think people are made of monies. Where I live in Thailand the same thing is 40BHT which also comes with a large glass of iced water. C/M is for tourists. Tip, if they have a menu in English stay well out of the place.

Mon Jam is where everyone goes, it’s one of the most popular destinations near Chiang Mai. Your opening drone shot shows just how over developed it is with crappy, overpriced campsites.

We enjoyed it, and thought it was a nice contrast. Not overcrowded, very quiet and peaceful. I think it's great that the land owners are generating more revenue by creating camp sites/renting their land
