I'm really excited to be visiting Bangkok for the first time in November, along with 8 other SE Asia destinations.. Normally I would be heading to Watamu and will miss it a lot, but definitely will be back in there April for my biannual Kenya fix.. I wasn’t really fancying Bangkok but you made that look interesting and the train journey to Chang mai so I will try it but prefer the beaches and I’ve done Kenya twice and that is amazing

Bangkok can be amazing, but it can also be a headache if you fall for all the tourist traps. Our advice would be to find a good guide and let them help you find all the best spots 🙂

Of course, BKK is worth the hype. One can always argue that this and that popular song or film is an utter crap because the masses just don't know better. But a destination is a whole another beast; it can only assessed by people who can afford to. You can afford to go to places because you've done well in life. You've done well in life because you've got good judgements on things to start with. When Bangkok continues to be the most visited city on the planet by international arrivals (Source: City Index by MasterCard), well, that's millions upon millions of reliable judgements, isn't it? Thanks for doing this video and that aerial shot of the Misus in the hotel pool is just AMAZING!

It us depends but me as an older person I skip any big cities. I am Landing in Thailand first time in two weeks . I was king thinking about stay in Bangkok but I never was big fan of large cities so I booked my connection to my final destination skipping Bangkok.

Fair enough. Big cities are not everyone's cup of tea. We actually hated Bangkok the first 2 times we came 🤣 but once we changed our approach and worked out where all the cool stuff was we loved it! Enjoy your holiday 🙂

I spent a month in Bangkok. It is just another big city to me, with a lack of the traditional Thai culture one would hope to find. Is it worth seeing. If it is a bucket list item, then sure. If you just want to say that you have been there, then ok. But, if you are on a short holiday and want to see real Thailand, you can skip it. There are far too many more spectacular places to go off to explore. Want to explore a city, then head to Chiang Mai. Want to visit Sodom and Gomorrah of Thailand? Skip a single street with "cowboy" in its name and head off to Pattaya. Want authentic Thai food, get yourself into the countryside.

Personally I think you haven't seen the right parts of Bangkok if you think it lacks culture. We linked up with a fantastic little tour company (Thailand out and about) and they showed us an absolutely amazing side of Bangkok. It is FULL of culture, you just have to know where to look 🙂 That being said, it's definitely a marmite place and everyone will have their preferences. We personally love Bangkok, but I can see why people don't

Vitamin D deficiency is unlikely for her. She spends 90% of her time in sunny counties doing outdoor activities. She eats a balanced diet and supplements with Vit D.

@@WhereNextFamily "better" is always subjective, I just don't like the way people that like that country try to initiate the "better" talks, I wish each country could just be itself and thrive off of it's own merit, if people on their own without anyone's influence think it is "better" than somewhere else, then so be it, but that shouldn't be a notion someone has before they even think about traveling to potential locations they have never been to.

That's very true and you are right. I think maybe "better" was the wrong word for me to use. It ticks a lot of boxes for us, but I'm sure there are other people who don't like it, and maybe think somewhere else is "better".
