Use red light instead of white light when getting in/out of tent at night. Bugs aren't attracted to the red light.

Lol not for our Christmas camp out. Every time it’s always been colder than forecasted! It was supposed to be 33 … woke up in the morning and it’s 25! It snowed one year… wasn’t expecting that at all! Could have lived without the 25 mph wind though that was almost scary to paddle back in. The good news about car camping is that you always have access to Walmart as long as you catch it in time

We found small ceiling fans that connect together and work on 1 rechargeable power pack.. they are lite weight and a great addition when it's hot at night.. a very small thing but comfort for sleeping makes it sooo much better.. we tent camp when I'm having a good week.. I have serious health issues that sometimes makes it impossible to tent camp.. my other half is amazing.. after my diagnosis he traded his brand new toyhauler and bought us a diesel pusher so I can do long road trips..when life throws a curveball you figure it out..Yes we still tent camp from time too time.. we camp and glamp...lol CANT SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF AND EVERYTHING IS THE SMALL STUFF ❤

Imagine this conversation: Husband, " I thought you put that back in the bin" Wife, " No, I heard you say you were going to clean it first and then put it back." 😱

Number 7! Last time I went camping with my niece, we used a tarp under our tent thinking it would help with the rain. Little did I know, you need to overlap it! 😂 After a day of rain, our tent felt like a water mattress when we stepped inside. We ended up sleeping in the car. I thought it was just the wrong campground, but after watching this video, I realized the mistake was not overlapping the tarp. Mind blown 🤯 and jaw dropped! I’m going camping again soon, and it might rain. I was worried, but now, I’m so glad I saw this video! Perfect timing! Thanks for the great tips!

After I tighten the guy lines, the tent occasionally shifts. I'll walk around and fold the tarp under 2 or 3 inches in from the edge of the tent. Heavy rain can track under the tent's bucket floor. For added protection if any condensation runs down the inside walls, I use a picnic blanket that folds into it's own package with stakes. One side of it is comfy flannel and the bottom is water resistant. It also keeps my sleep mat from sliding around and if it gets cold I can wrap it over me like a taco shell.

Yes! Bins!! I carry three small gasketed totes. One is kitchen, one is shower and one is dishwashing/clothes washing kits. I actually have two kitchen bins. One is if I have access to electricity (electric skillet, kettle, kuerig) and the other is if I don’t (butane, titanium cookware, pour over coffee). If at any time I will be traveling with no electric access, I only take the no electricity tote. Both totes are redundant as far as cutlery, plates etc. The three totes fit in my front seats when I’m not driving or I put them in my toss up tent which I only use for storage. Love my bins!!

When we use our Intex we blow it up when we first setup camp and then we might hit again right before bed to make sure it’s full. Doesn’t really lose too much air during the night, but we’ve had other ones in the past that were pretty bad with that. 😁

First time camper here 👋🏾 is it sufficient to use a regular pillow and blanket or is a sleeping bag a must for camping?
@WhereWeWild
@WhereWeWild Ай бұрын
Hey 👋🏽😊 Depends on how cold out it is, what makes you personally feel the most comfortable, what type of camping you’re doing, and how often you plan on going! If you’re backpacking you’re going to need a much lighter sleeping system, if you’re car camping you can get away with bringing bulkier stuff from home. We’ve done regular pillows and blankets while car camping in the summer plenty of times! If you plan on going camping a lot though, having a good sleeping bag or two rated for specific temperature situations would be a good investment. 🤙🏽

Your first tip is the number one thing all campers should do. Check all of your new gear before you head out! I learned my lesson many years ago with an instant tent. Got to camp, unpacked the new instant tent and started setting it up when it started pouring. Hurried to try and get it set up only to find that two of the poles were installed backwards from the factory. The knuckles were facing the wrong direction. Had to find a screw driver and disassemble the 2 poles in the driving rain and reassemble them to get the tent up. It totally sucked! ALWAYS CHECK YOUR GEAR ESPECIALLY NEW GEAR BEFORE HEADING OUT!!!

When I pack for camping, I bring one of everything. A bathing suit, a pair of shorts, a tank top, a T-shirt, a long sleeve shirt, a flannel shirt, sweatpants, blue jeans, and the appropriate amount of underwear and socks. A fleece jacket, a leather jacket, and a raincoat. Pair of sandals, a pair of runners, and a pair of rubber boots. A wool cap and gloves.

I get a campground map of the place I am thinking about going and I pay the day use fee to drive around with a co-pilot to take notes. Mark on the map with highlighters of different colors the most desirable campsites (green) and the medium ones (yellow) and the least ( orange) then I eat my picnic lunch, take a nice walk. Go home and tidy up my notes. Then I have a "top ten" list for when I am ready to make reservations.

What is your solution for a camp fire during burn bans? I use a diy ammo can propane fire pit.
@WhereWeWild
@WhereWeWild 28 күн бұрын
Honestly if the fire bans get that bad we tend to not even bother going to that area because we love to have a real fire when we go! 🔥😎😂🤙🏽 Haha several times though we’ve had no choice without warning and would just cook using our little butane/propane backpacking stove and that’s it. One time we drove 5 hours to a place we had a reservation at and a fire was so close they had evacuated most of the area but they let us camp there anyway as long as we didn’t have a fire. Raining ash. Basically dark/orange outside from the smoke blocking the sun. Tougher to breathe. It was kind of ridiculous. We were like the only people there. That’s a cool idea with the diy ammo can. I’ve seen some propane fire pits I’d be curious to try out on like big multi day car camping trips, but they’re definitely bulky to travel with.
@KaiMirra
@KaiMirra 28 күн бұрын
@@WhereWeWild A few companies make ammo can fire pits now, but going the DIY route saved me a good amount of cash 😁 and they are definitely a lot smaller than the standard "portable" fire pits. I have a short video of my fire pit on my YT if you're interested.

In Australia we need to avoid camping under large eucalyptus trees in spring summer. These trees can drop large branches without warning, and we are talking of 30 cm or 1 foot in diameter, widowmakers. These are the second most planted trees worldwide wide. We use a caravan annex mesh under the tent and put tarp on top. Bugs and snakes are a good reason to leave. Don’t feed the animals because, when regularly fed, they get angry when there is no food for them.
